State Route 108 will be temporarily closing at Kennedy Meadows on Wednesday, October 21st at 8am due to an upcoming storm. There is no ETA at this time on when it will open.

Beginning Friday, September 4th at 6:00pm until Monday, September 7th at 11:59pm, the CHP will be holding a Holiday Enforcement Period. With the long weekend ahead, we want everyone to have fun, celebrate responsibly and get home safely. Please designate a sober driver.

Several schools in Tuolumne County will begin classes this week. Remember to stop for the flashing red lights on the school buses. A few extra seconds can make a lifetime of difference. SLOW DOWN. STAY ALERT. STOP FOR THE BUS.

Sonora Area CHP has another resource that can assist Tuolumne County when needed. Our Chevrolet Silverado has the capabilities to go on remote roadways and will respond to incidents during inclement weather with ease. We are excited to have this patrol vehicle in our fleet.

Remember, if you are going to be towing a trailer (or a tiny house), please ensure the trailer is attached properly to the tow vehicle. The few seconds it takes for a pre-trip inspection could save you hours later on.

Due to the storm, the Sonora Pass has closed temporarily at Kennedy Meadows.

Caltrans is planning on opening the Sonora Pass today at 10:00am. Just as a reminder, cellphone service may not be available in certain locations. Also, there are still some areas where snow may still be present on the ground. In case of an emergency, call 9-1-1.

This May, Caltrans will be adding an "ALL-WAY STOP" at the intersection of State Route 49 at Shaws Flat Road. The addition of this controlled intersection will enhance safety and manage traffic flow. When the project begins construction, please watch for road workers in the area.
