🚨 LABOUR COUNCILLOR WALKS FREE FROM COURT AFTER POSSESSING THE WORST INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN
A Labour Councillor has been given a 12-month suspended sentence for possessing indecent images of children deemed category A considered the worst.
Tom Dewey a Labour Councillor for Hackney has avoided jail after admitting possessing indecent images of children.
Recorder Jonathan Ashley-Norman handed down a 12-month suspended sentence, he said: Your actions have had a devastating impact on your life and your closest family.”
He gave him credit for an early guilty plea
He also ordered devices to be forfeited, told Dewey to pay £500 costs and put him on a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which will restrict his contact with children.
Thomas Dewey, who was elected as a Labour councillor for De Beauvoir ward, was arrested by detectives from the National Crime Agency who seized laptops and tablets at his home in Hertford Road in Hackney, just days before May’s local elections last year.
He had a “huge problem” with looking at indecent images of children from the internet for his own use, Wood Green Crown Court heard.
Described by party activists as “ambitious”, he had worked at Hackney Council for nearly two years as a support officer for the Mayor and Cabinet office and for a consultancy advising on planning.
He was the branch secretary for the De Beauvoir ward for Labour and had spent years campaigning for the party in Hackney.
Last month, the 36-year-old admitted a charge of making five category A indecent images of children, a further charge of making 41 category B indecent images, as well as making 203 category C indecent images of children.
Images are graded with category A considered the worst.
Dewey, now of Hampshire, also admitted a charge of possessing 78 extreme pornographic images of children – an act which results, or is likely to result, in serious injury to a person and having 1,523 prohibited images of children in his possession.
The maximum sentence for the most serious charge is five years, depending on the number of images.
Details of the images were not read out in court, but prosecutor Margia Mostafa said the content of the Category A images “are highly serious.”
The starting point for the first charge is two years in prison but the steps Dewey has taken, along with his early guilty plea and remorse saw that cut to 12 months, suspended for two years.
He received an additional six months for charge two, three months for charge three, six months for charge four, and six months for charge five, all suspended for two years and to run concurrently.
Dewey also has to do 150 hours’ community service and 40 days of a “rehabilitation activity”.
,two days before his arrest at home in Hackney where he was “the sole occupant.”
The NCA seized two laptops, two tablets and a hard drive and Dewey was arrested and cautioned at 7.03am.
They had identified four “CyberTipline” reports which has user ID to a google drive and Dewey had uploaded indecent images of children to his personal account.
Dewey was elected as a Labour councillor for the first time in the May 2022 council elections and resigned days later, triggering a by-election last July.
Labour, which has a majority on the council, narrowly defeated the Green candidate in the by-election.
The charges have caused upset amongst Labour campaigners who were unaware of the arrest until this summer.

PAKISTANI RAPE GANG PROTECTING OLDHAM COUNCIL HANDED A TAXI LICENCE TO A MAN CONVICTED OF ABDUCTING AND SEXUALLY ASSAULTING A 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN HIS CAR.
In September 2014, under Labour leader Jim McMahon, the council’s head of licensing reported five convicted drivers to the Labour cabinet member responsible. Four of them were left on the road. One of those four went on to sexually assault a child in his taxi. The records of who made that decision no longer exist.
Andy Burnham's review recorded every part of this. It named none of the people responsible before clearing the council of wrongdoing.
OLDHAM COUNCIL LICENSED A CONVICTED CHILD SEX OFFENDER
In 2001 a man was convicted of indecently assaulting and abducting a 13-year-old girl in his private hire car. He served 18 months in prison. In 2005 Oldham Council handed him a taxi licence.
The council let him drive the public, children included, for ten years before it revoked his licence in January 2015. It licensed another man in 2003, two years after he was convicted of indecent assault.
In September 2014 the council's head of licensing reported five licensed drivers to the Labour cabinet member responsible. The report set out their previous convictions, including sexual offences. After a screening exercise with Greater Manchester Police and the safeguarding board, one man was sent to a licensing panel and lost his licence. The other four kept driving.
The next year one of those four men sexually assaulted a child in his taxi. When he was convicted in 2017, the judge asked why he had ever been given a licence.
When Burnham's reviewers went looking for the records of who decided to keep those men driving, the records had gone.
THE COUNCIL KNEW TAXIS WERE MOVING SEXUALLY EXPLOITED CHILDREN AROUND OLDHAM
Oldham's social workers knew it by 2010. Staff in the council's own children's homes were writing down the registration numbers of the cars collecting girls. Council officers were warning taxi firms to stop carrying children in care.
Girls were coming back to council children's homes in taxis they had no means of paying for. The council's own investigators suspected the girls were being sexually exploited to pay for those journeys. These were children in the council's care.
One licensed driver admitted meeting an underage girl in an illegal shisha bar and using his taxi for sexual activity with her. A safeguarding officer told the council he was not fit to hold a licence. The council had his own admission in its files.
The authorities understood the danger. They had the registration numbers, the girls' names and a driver's own admission. They had the power to take every one of those men off the road, yet the men kept driving.
BURNHAM'S REVIEW NEVER NAMED WHO DID IT
The law says a council cannot grant a taxi licence to anyone unless it is satisfied they are a fit and proper person. Oldham had the power to refuse every one of those men. It chose to license them.
Burnham's reviewers had the council's licensing files. They could have named the councillors who sat on the panels that licensed those men in 2003 and 2005. They could have named the Labour cabinet member who received the 2014 report, established who decided that four convicted drivers could stay on the road and made every one of them answer for it in public. They did none of it.
Whatever those people told the reviewers, the public was never told. Instead the reviewers blamed the national guidance of the time. No guidance has ever forced a council to hand a convicted child sex offender a licence to drive children around its town.
They found a driver questioned over two separate sexual assaults on young female passengers, where police had told the licensing panel there was enough evidence to prosecute him for the first. The panel let him keep his licence. The reviewers themselves said it should have been revoked.
They were told that drivers from one Oldham taxi firm had been exploiting children at the old Conservative Club. Greater Manchester Police, the force Burnham was responsible for, investigated itself and found nothing. The reviewers admitted they could not check the police's work, yet accepted the police's word.
Then they wrote that only a small number of drivers were involved. They wrote that there was no evidence senior managers or councillors had covered up the exploitation of children by taxi drivers.
Oldham Council had licensed child sex offenders and kept them driving with their convictions in front of it. It had lost the records of who made that decision. Burnham's review cleared it.
THE TAXI TRADE HOLDS POWER IN OLDHAM
Oldham's taxi trade is organised, and the council bends to it. The council's own equality assessment says large numbers of the town's Pakistani and Bangladeshi residents work in the trade.
In 2021 the drivers' associations fought the council over the licence plates on the front of their cars. The council reinstated the plates, but the trade kept pushing.
In June 2023, weeks after we removed Amanda Chadderton, Arooj Shah was back as Labour leader of Oldham Council. Her licensing committee rewrote the taxi policy following consultation with the trade. It took the identification plates off the front of every licensed vehicle and shrank the operator signs on the doors.
The GMB union, which had campaigned for the change with the drivers, publicly thanked Shah for it. The same changes drew drivers licensed in Merseyside and the Midlands back onto Oldham licences, taking Oldham from 1,300 licensed drivers in April 2023 to 2,000 a year later. By 2025 its licensed fleet had more than doubled, to 2,397 vehicles.
The chair of the council's licensing committee describes the council's job as working to grow the taxi trade. This is the town where children's home staff once had to write down taxi registrations to keep track of the cars taking girls away. Oldham Council took the plates off the front of its taxis, then licensed more of them than ever.
WHY BOTH REFORM AND THE CONSERVATIVES MUST DEMAND THE LAW IS CHANGED
Andy Burnham commissioned the review that cleared Oldham’s taxi licensing. As Prime Minister he leads the government that can make cameras compulsory in every taxi and private hire vehicle in England. He has not done it, and Labour will not do it while he leads them. There are too many Pakistani votes at stake. Neither the Conservatives or Reform are held to ransom this way.
Rotherham put a camera in every licensed taxi once its own drivers were exposed abusing children. Only 9% of licensing authorities in England have done the same. In most of this country a child can still be put in the back of a licensed car with nothing recording what is done to her.
Reform and the Conservatives say they stand with the victims of the rape gangs. Here is the test. Every council they run has the power to make a camera a condition of every taxi licence it issues, and none of them needs Burnham’s permission to use it. We demand they use it, in every one of those councils.
Reform won 13 of the 20 seats contested in Oldham in May 2026. Its councillors can table the motion that makes cameras compulsory in every Oldham taxi. They can also force the council to publish the names of the councillors who licensed those men, and the cabinet member and officers who read the 2014 report and left four convicted drivers on the road. If Reform will not do it in the town where this happened, it will not do it anywhere.
In Parliament we demand Reform and Conservative MPs force the vote Burnham will not hold. They must put down the amendment that makes cameras compulsory in every licensed taxi in England, with a deadline every council has to meet. It must also turn the ban on licensing child sex offenders from guidance into law. Oldham had that guidance and licensed them anyway.
The National Inquiry must put every person who licensed those men and kept them driving under oath. It must ask how Oldham’s taxi trade came to hold that much power over the council that licenses it.
The girls being driven back to Oldham’s children’s homes in taxis they could not pay for were the council’s own responsibility. The council licensed the cars, and it licensed the men driving them.

And yet, despite every attempt to stop us, we forced the national inquiry. We did that because enough ordinary people refused to go away.
But getting the inquiry was never the end of this campaign. In many ways it was only the beginning. Now we have to watch where it goes, what it investigates, which places it avoids, which witnesses it calls, which records it obtains and whether the same institutions that failed these children are allowed to control the story again.

The anti-Muslim hostility definition is designed to silence criticism of Islam, its history and its practices. It is a direct assault on our fundamental right to free speech.
Baroness Gohir, a member of the House of Lords and of the Working Group tasked with drafting the definition, has claimed that it is “Islamophobic” to point out that most rape-gang perpetrators were Muslim men. This is despite Baroness Casey’s report finding a disproportionate number of perpetrators of child sexual exploitation were men of Pakistani heritage.
Earlier this year, the Free Speech Union revealed that all five members of the Working Group, appointed by Angela Rayner, had troubling links to Islamist organisations.
Rayner’s department then claimed it had deleted all responses to the Working Group’s consultation, apparently breaching the Government’s own data policy. This only fuelled speculation that Islamist extremists may have influenced the drafting of what amounts to a de facto Islamic blasphemy law.
After an investigation, the department claimed that the responses were still held on its data system — but refused to disclose them.
It makes no sense. What is Angela Rayner hiding?

OLDHAM'S LABOUR LEADER AMANDA CHADDERTON BLOCKED THE COUNCIL'S DEMAND FOR AN INDEPENDENT INQUIRY INTO THE RAPE OF THE TOWN'S CHILDREN. SHE REMOVED THE DEMAND TO INVESTIGATE WHAT HER OWN COUNCILLORS AND OFFICERS KNEW. SHE SAID IT WAS TIME TO MOVE ON. HAD WE MOVED ON, THERE WOULD BE NO NATIONAL INQUIRY.
When she lost her seat, she said: "It's a conspiracy theory. We had a report that said in black and white there was no cover-up." That report was Andy Burnham's.
They thought Burnham's review had closed the scandal down. They thought those of us demanding accountability could be dismissed. We had other ideas.
BURNHAM'S REVIEW WAS PART OF THE COVER-UP
The review was asked for by Sean Fielding, the Labour leader of the council that stood accused. Andy Burnham, then Mayor of Greater Manchester and the region's Police and Crime Commissioner, commissioned it. Oldham Council and Greater Manchester Police, the two bodies under investigation, helped shape its terms.
The police force Burnham was responsible for never gave his reviewers full access to its records, and the council redacted key information. The review found that the police had told the BBC there were just two pieces of intelligence on the shisha bars when their own officers had filed several, and called that proportionate.
Burnham's expert team also failed to interview a single one of the survivors of the town's Pakistani Rape Gangs.
To clear the former council leader of protecting the Pakistani men abusing Oldham's children, the review relied on his own 2014 blog. That council leader was Jim McMahon. His defence were his words on an obscure blog back in 2014 in a town where the majority of people did not read online blogs.
Burnham's team knew what they were doing. They knew a council leader had a duty to stand in the council chamber and warn people what was happening.
It was published on 20 June 2022 and declared there was no evidence of a cover-up. When one of its authors was asked about my allegations, he said there was no basis for them. A review that could not see the police evidence had been used to tell Oldham that the people exposing the abuse were the ones lying.
LABOUR USED THE REVIEW AS A WEAPON
Labour picked it up the day it was published. Jim McMahon, by then MP for Oldham West and Royton, Debbie Abrahams, MP for Oldham East and Saddleworth, and Angela Rayner, the party's deputy leader, dismissed the allegations as conspiracy theories and declared that a line had been drawn under the scandal. On 30 June, ten days after a review that cleared him on the strength of his own blog, McMahon attacked me by name in Parliament.
On 22 July Burnham wrote to the people of Oldham thanking his reviewers for the thorough way in which they had undertaken their work. He said nothing about the police records his own force had kept from them or why his expert team had failed to interview a single survivor.
CHADDERTON BLOCKED OLDHAM COUNCIL FROM DEMANDING AN INDEPENDENT INQUIRY INTO ITS OWN CONDUCT
On 13 July 2022, Amanda Chadderton, Labour leader of Oldham Council and councillor for Royton South, stood in the council chamber and moved an amendment removing the demand for an independent public inquiry into the rape gang scandal. She also deleted the words "including the actions and knowledge of Council Members and Officers" from the motion. In their place came her declaration: "We must move forward."
Labour councillors backed her, and the amended motion passed by 32 votes to 20. Burnham's review had been public for 23 days. Oldham Labour had already used it to shut down any investigation of themselves.
GREATER MANCHESTER POLICE ARRESTED ME SEVEN DAYS BEFORE THE ELECTION
We took our campaign to the streets of Oldham to remove Chadderton from office at the May 2023 elections. We had crowdfunded leaflets and I led a small team of mostly pensioners. We were up against the Labour Party. Even Andy Burnham came to Oldham to campaign against us.
On 27 April 2023, seven days before polling day, Greater Manchester Police dawn raided my home and arrested me. It was the force that answered to Andy Burnham as Police and Crime Commissioner. The allegations were false. The raid, and the attempt to fast-track proceedings and have me remanded, were designed to take me off the streets in the final week of the campaign.
My legal team challenged what was happening, and the police were forced to acknowledge that I was the victim. By the next day they had released me and confirmed no further action. Undeterred, I went straight back to campaigning.
WE REMOVED HER FROM OFFICE
On 4 May 2023, Amanda Chadderton lost her seat in Royton South. Our independent candidate topped the poll. In a ward electing three councillors, the Labour leader of Oldham Council finished fourth and missed the last seat by 21 votes. She was the third consecutive Labour leader of Oldham Council we had helped remove, following Sean Fielding and Arooj Shah.
Her answer to losing was to reach for Burnham's review and call the cover up of the gang rape of little White girls by Pakistani men a conspiracy theory. The review had been written to clear her council. She was still hiding behind it after we removed her.
In 2024 Labour rewarded her with a job as campaigns manager for Yvette Cooper, then Shadow Home Secretary. Cooper became Home Secretary on 5 July 2024 with Chadderton still on her staff. She was also the Home Secretary who tried to block a national inquiry.
The council leader who blocked Oldham's inquiry went to work for the minister trying to block the national one.
After removing three council leaders in succession, in May 2024 Labour lost its majority on Oldham Council. We finally had the numbers to force the council to write to Jess Phillips demanding a statutory inquiry. Later that year the Labour government refused Oldham's request for a government-led inquiry.
Elon Musk then got involved.
On 12 February 2025 we outmanoeuvred the Labour Party and through an emergency council meeting, we forced Oldham Council to vote unanimously to demand a statutory public inquiry. Four months later, the government conceded the National Statutory Inquiry.
None of this happened because those in power suddenly decided to do the right thing. Every one of those steps was forced on them by people in Oldham who refused to stop.
WE PAID FOR IT
The arrest seven days before the election was not the only attempt. I was already facing separate charges on earlier allegations. For three years, under house arrest, I waited for a trial on allegations I knew were false, while I carried on exposing what had been done to Oldham's children.
Every night, I barricaded my front door whilst Labour Party aligned Pakistani gangsters and Islamists, under the protection of Andy Burnham's police force, openly boasted of what they were going to do to me.
They tried to frame me, and they failed. They tried to scare me into submission, and they failed. They tried to silence me. My voice only grew louder.
My one regret was that my mother died before I was able to clear my name. No electoral victory, no public vindication and no national inquiry can ever give that back to me.
Warren Bates was there at the beginning. He was a former councillor who refused to accept what was happening in our town. It was his evidence bundle that helped force this. Warren died before he could see how far we had come. I held his hand at his death bed. His last words to me were 'get them, make sure you get them.'
I made him a promise that I would carry on, that we would not abandon the fight or allow those responsible to bury what had happened. I have kept that promise.
THE PEOPLE WHO TRIED TO CLOSE IT DOWN MUST ANSWER FOR IT
The National Inquiry exists because ordinary working class people from a northern mill town people refused to be silenced, refused to surrender and refused to accept that the powerful could declare the matter closed. Some of the people who began this fight are no longer here to see it. I mourn them every day.
The inquiry must examine Oldham in full. It must call Andy Burnham, who commissioned the review and defended it, and Amanda Chadderton, who used it to block an inquiry into her own council. It must call Jim McMahon and Debbie Abrahams, Angela Rayner too. The same with every Labour councillor that attempted to prevent the truth from coming out. They must explain under oath why they told the children of Oldham it was time to move on.
My name is Raja Miah. I am 8 years in. I am not yet finished. Are you?

🚨Now it's SIX Meetings With Man City, Not the One He Told Parliament
Andy Burnham told MPs he had only one significant meeting with Manchester City's Abu Dhabi owners while mayor. The Sun has now counted at least six contacts with the club's hierarchy.
Two dinners with chairman Khalsa on Al Mubarak in 2017 and 2018, a 2019 stand-side chat, the 2021 summit he later called his sole significant meeting, a 2023 sit-down with CEO Ferran Soriano, and a 2025 meeting with former COO Roel de Vries. The dinner entries then disappeared from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority website.
Burnham says the dinners were ordinary hospitality, that City's financial case was never discussed, and that he is happy for a full trawl. Fair enough - if the public is expected to accept that a prime minister's earlier relationship with owners now found guilty of almost every one of 115 Premier League charges was purely incidental. The gap between "one significant meeting" and six is not a rounding error. It is a credibility problem

We call on France to exercise restraint when dispersing the freedom fighters on the streets of Paris. These brave warriors for justice must receive immediate humanitarian aid, and their safety must be guaranteed in accordance with international law. Failure to comply will leave us no choice but to bring a case before the ICJ, in close cooperation with that renowned champion of human rights, Afghanistan.

As France burns, I must ask: how is this despicable person fit to be a Member of Parliament?
