On @gbnews bright and early this morning, talking about financial literacy in the National Curriculum. Teachers do a brilliant job in delivering the curriculum but also, never underestimate the role of parents in preparing youngsters for life in the big wide world - hopefully not a controversial viewpoint! British 15 year olds are now 4th in the world for reading and 11th for maths (up from 27th since 2010) and these excellent core skills will stand them in great stead whatever life throws at them @GillianKeegan @CFofND @CFoEducation
