Optimizing surgical preference cards via regression analysis of historical supply use resulted in notable cost savings and reduced unused items, particularly in colorectal surgery, which saw a 55.8% reduction in supply waste.

🚨 AI won’t replace doctors… but it can prevent them from learning how to think.
A critical article in @NEJM shows that if introduced too early in medical training, it weakens clinical reasoning.
✅ A good doctor will always need critical thinking.

Surgery is becoming a numbers game. As RVUs dominate priorities, academic surgeons report less time for teaching, research, and mentorship—jeopardizing the next generation.

"76% percent of people who die from colorectal cancer are not up-to-date with screening. I’ve seen the devastating reality of that personally, having lost two close friends to this disease who didn’t get screened for CRC until it was too late.
I take my health seriously and have had polyps removed during past colonoscopies. So when I was between retirement and Medicare eligibility, overdue for screening, and unable to afford the procedure, I had to find help. I had to get checked. The Colorectal Cancer Alliance and its supporters made my screening possible.
By filling out a form and speaking with one of the Alliance’s certified patient navigators, I got the colonoscopy I needed for just $25. My insurance situation was bad at the time, and I was so fortunate to find the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.
The procedure found five polyps, and one of them was precancerous. That one polyp could have developed into a terrifying diagnosis. I want to live another 30 years. I’m happy to know, for now, that colorectal cancer won’t stand in the way. I’ve been screened, thanks to generous individuals like you.
Today, in observance of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, please give to advocate for prevention, magnify patient support, and accelerate research to end this disease. Every dollar you give is matched by Takeda Oncology, up to $25,000." - Leslie Brannon
