Can we all agree that ecumenism with the Church of England is pointless now?

How to not leave the Catholic Church

This comment, and those like it, claiming that we must only forgive after there is repentance is anti-Christian. I know this isn't the "based Trad West" perspective, but if you lose this reading, you lose what made the West great. The Fathers speak that Our Lord's instruction that we pray "forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us" is about ending vengeful obsession. The example that they often give is the patriarch Joseph. His brothers sold him into slavery by their pure hatred and envy of him. Yet *without their repentance* he aimed all of his efforts at trying to obtain their good, and in the end, he obtained their typological salvation. In a similar way, we must forgive those who trespass against us, and instead of using all of our private will to obsess about vengeance, the Lord calls us to use this willfulness to obtain their own salvation. We are not just called to forgive our enemy, but to love him, and this means to wish for his repentance and salvation, avoiding vengeful obsession on our parts. St. Augustine, speaking on the Our Father said this: "it is not for those who ask pardon that we are enjoined to pray. For those who are already in such a state of mind are no longer enemies." The State, serving the common good, must ensure that justice is obtained. But the individual must forgive, as God forgives him. So not only was Erika Kirk completely in the right, but the Holy Ghost truly seems to have worked the Gospel in her heart, and that is what *builds* Western Civilization, rather than what destroys it.
Not to dunk on a mourning wife and mother, but this exactly the type of suicidal empathy that will destroy Western civilization and everything you've ever loved and cared about if it's allowed to go unchecked in positions of authority.

Charlie Kirk's memorial at Glendale was packed. People were there since 4 AM and still couldn't get in. Probably 100,000 outside, not even counting the packed stadium

Thanks to @CFNonX for publishing my article on Catholic Ecclesiology and what that means about how we relate to Charlie Kirk.
Ryan Grant (@chesterbelloc3) discusses in his latest for CFN whether or not Charlie Kirk was a martyr, in what sense we can say that he is, and looks at some similar examples from the past catholicfamilynews.com/blog/…

The Cardinal would seem to fall under multiple censures from Church documents with this latest screed. Especially this one from the 22nd Session of Trent, speaking about the liturgy which he despises: "If anyone says that the ceremonies, vestments, and outward signs which the Catholic Church uses in the celebration of masses, are incentives to impiety rather than stimulants to piety let him be anathema" I don't understand how people can so flippantly and easily attack the liturgy that was the lifeblood of the Saints.
JUST IN: Cardinal Cupich on the Latin Mass writes: “Tradition is the living faith of the dead, traditionalism is the dead faith of the living.” He adds Vatican II liturgy changes “were a direct response to the centuries of development that erroneously had transformed the Mass from a communal event into a more clerical, complex & dramatic spectacle.” chicagocatholic.com/cardinal…

Interesting how Pope Leo seems to be very deliberate in his expression and demeanor here. This provides some precedent for people to speculate more about how the Pope looks in these photo ops and how that reveals his private opinions.
Pope Leo XIV met today with the President of Israel Isaac Herzog The two had previously met in May at Leo XIV's inauguration Herzog's office claimed that the pope had invited Herzog, however this was denied by the Vatican who said: “It is the Holy See’s practice to accede to requests for an audience with the pope made by Heads of State and Government; it is not its practice to extend invitations to them” Following the Vatican statement, Herzog's office then clarified that a meeting had been scheduled with Pope Francis before his death and that this was a fulfillment of that arrangement

There is a worrisome trend within the Catholic Church to split similar to the "High-Church" and "Low-Church" of the Anglicans. It's divided not just on ritual, but divided on the faith. The Fr. Martin meeting juxtaposed with the +Burke meeting is a kind of emblem of this.
