‼️ PHP Warns of Two Critical 9.2 Security Vulnerabilities, Urges Users to Prepare for Patches
Details: cybersecuritynews.com/php-to…
The PHP security team has warned users about two critical vulnerabilities and urged administrators to prepare for an upcoming security release.
Both flaws carry a CVSS v4.0 score of 9.2. Updates are scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at 14:00 UTC, giving website owners and hosting providers a short window to prepare. Public reporting links the upcoming fixes to CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619.
Security firm watchTowr describes them as reported remote code execution vulnerabilities, which could allow attackers to run their own code on affected servers. However, PHP’s advance notice does not name the CVEs or explain how the flaws work. Reports suggest the vulnerabilities could affect PHP versions from PHP 5 onward.

On the Atlassian item, the Crowd chain is the part to prioritize: the file read is WEB-INF/classes/crowd.properties, and watchTowr notes an IP allowlist on Crowd makes the escalation much harder. Previdian’s tracker shows 158 attempts from 26 IPs at last check.

🚨This week's biggest threat: A critical authentication bypass in JFrog Artifactory (CVE-2026-82329) is being actively exploited to create admin-level tokens with no credentials required.
Artifactory manages every build artifact, container image, and deployment package in enterprise pipelines an attacker with admin access can silently poison any package or inject malicious code into any software release.
Patch immediately, restrict external access, and rotate all tokens now.
Also flagged:
❗️Virtualizor BGP Hijack: Attackers pushed backdoored updates to VPS panels worldwide verify your version against the official release hash
❗️Dropbox via Lenovo Email Flaw: Fraudulent ID registrations hijacked linked Dropbox accounts revoke unrecognized third-party access
❗️14 Trojanized npm Packages: Fake calendar utilities deployed an AI-powered Linux backdoor audit dependencies and rotate credentials
💡Tip: Attackers are hijacking BGP routing to redirect update traffic to malicious servers. Always verify updates using cryptographic hashes before installing, especially for server tools.
Protect yourself:
✔️Verify software versions against official hashes
✔️Revoke unrecognized third-party account access
✔️Audit dependencies after suspicious installs
Read, share, help build a safer digital Uganda.
