Another addition to the collection Honestly not sure how practically useful this one is anymore, but I had to have it for the shelf

Forever hungry, dark-clad and prideful, the Wolves of Askedon plagued my childhood dreams. Onto them I projected my fears and terrors. And yet, to advance in The City of the Dark Obelisk, one must brave them. A new article in my series on this obscure RPG is out...
For anyone curious, my series on The City of the Dark Obelisk ended up putting me in touch with an expert in PC software preservation, and this has led to some interesting developments. I wrote an article to give you a general overview of the “investigation”

An ideal of beauty, the Elf of the River reminds me of Jung’s Anima. But perhaps that resemblance is itself another of CODO’s false paths. Some things in Askedon seem designed to be misread. If you want to read my retrospective series on this obscure game, you can... 1/2
A lot of people have written to me about similar problems trying to find a playable copy of CODO. I mentioned this in the article series, but quite a few of the surviving CD-ROMs seem to be damaged or partially unreadable. Luckily, I still have my own copy and it reads fine. 1/2

They mocked you for getting 64GB of RAM when "you didn't need them". They mocked you for getting a 5090 at 2.5K. Who's laughing now?

I grew up reading magazines in the ’70s and ’80s, and somewhere along the way I fell in love with a certain kind of advertising — the kind with a great photograph, a great headline, and enough confidence to actually make you read the copy. And the copy was good. Years later I learned that David Ogilvy was one of the masters of that form. I’ve been trying to channel a little of that ever since. And yes, that is my own Altair 8800. Yes, it works. And no, you can’t borrow it. :-) Next to the PDP-11/70, it may be my favorite set of Das Blinkenlights. Those lights told you something. You knew when the machine was running, when it had crashed, and when it was simply waiting for you. In 1975, you could practically watch the computer think. Today, there are a few more moving parts. I’ve been having a ridiculous amount of fun making these old-school TMOG ads. The best compliment I can get is when I see one turn up somewhere I didn’t put it. TMOG.org
