TCU has banned @startelegram and pulled credentials over reporting of a locker room assault that resulted in a case filing with TCU campus police.
@StevenMJohnson_ has been told that the decision stemmed from the victim receiving threats after the reporting, but Steven never identified the victim until the victim made a public statement on his Instagram about the assault three days after his initial reporting.
Steven’s trip to Ireland this weekend for TCU’s game against North Carolina is still on, despite TCU pulling his credential for the game.
The Star-Telegram is the only full-time outlet covering TCU athletics.

As president of @TheFWAA, I strongly disagree with TCU’s decision to ban the Star-Telegram from coverage.
Steven Johnson has covered TCU with class for years and his credential to cover the game in Ireland should be reinstated immediately.

What a joke.
By every description here, the Star-T followed editorial best practices and protected the victim until he revealed himself on his own accord.
@StevenMJohnson_ does a fantastic job covering the team and absolutely does not deserve this treatment for doing his job the right way.
Hopefully, the athletic department will get some sense and reinstate him before Saturday’s game. I look forward to his coverage.
