The Labour Government are crazy if they think it’s acceptable to import oil from abroad but not drill it here

All rejected because of ‘green washing’

A 5p fuel duty increase is coming?
🚙 Drivers are already paying enough at the pumps. The last Conservative government cut fuel duty, Labour must keep that cut.
❌ Scrap the rise. Stop treating motorists like a cash cow.

Guesting on @GBNEWS tonight I suggested all our soldiers who served in Northern Ireland during the Troubles should be given the same Letters of Comfort which Blair granted to the IRA creeps.
Why is it that NO Labour minister ever stands up for the veterans?

After months of dithering and delay, Conservative pressure has finally forced Labour to approve Jackdaw.
This should be the start, not the end. Labour must approve Rosebank, end the ban on new drilling licences, and scrap the Energy Profits Levy

Billions of cost to the uk to give away what is ours. And the people of Chagos ignored
🚨Labour presses on with Chagos handover despite Trump’s opposition
Defence Secretary Wes Streeting has confirmed negotiations will continue to transfer sovereignty of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius while leasing back the joint US-UK base on Diego Garcia. After reviewing the issue “with a fresh pair of eyes”, he concluded a deal is still necessary to avoid legal uncertainty over the strategically vital facility.
The arrangement is set to cost £165 million a year for the first three years, then £120 million annually for the remaining 96 years. Critics put the long-term bill far higher. President Trump has repeatedly branded the proposal a “terrible deal”. Ministers previously indicated it could not proceed without American backing, yet Labour is now moving forward anyway. Paying rent on a base Britain already operates while handing away sovereign territory remains a hard sell.

Finally. Labour spent 2 years faffing about to make a decision which Conservatives had already approved 2 years ago.
If they’d done this in the summer we’d have had that gas heating British homes this Christmas.
An unnecessary waste of time and money by a party that puts its own interest above the country’s.
UK government gives go-ahead for gas production from Jackdaw field in North Sea bbc.in/4yzB0mv

This is good news. And long overdue.
But Labour must not stop here.
Jackdaw alone will not change the fortunes of the North Sea oil & gas sector or its workforce.
The same arguments in favour of Jackdaw stand across the North Sea - securing jobs and skills, protecting the energy supply chain, investment, tax receipts, security of supply.
If Andy Burnham really wants to show he is being “pragmatic”, he must also end the ban on new licences, end the energy profits levy, permit Rosebank and show that the UK backs domestic production before foreign imports.

Meanwhile more tinkering, more regulation, more costs and more dangers piled onto the strivers and workers who do the right thing.
Absolute shower of a government.
😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
This is unbelievable.👇
My very first thought when I heard this policy was “they won’t pay” and the second was “who’s going to fine them?”.
Yet we have a government that hasn’t thought about either of those very obvious and basic issues.
We already have laws. They are not enforced and the public are too scared to self enforce as this Minister suggests.
This a 10/10 example of gesture politics.
Performative nonsense that bears no scrutiny whatsoever.
Meanwhile, a policeman has been shot, over 150 schools closed by Islamist threats, the economy is on the brink, dangerous prisoners are being released and the boats keep coming.

Yesterday it's noise on buses and trains. Today it's parking tickets. Not a word about mass illegal immigration, possible terrorists, the cost of living and the welfare bill. Meet Andy Burnham, a mayor posing as a Prime Minister. General Election time

Foreign polygamous and incestuous Aunt-Nephew and Uncle-Niece marriages should not be recognised by Britain’s welfare system.
@Conservatives closed Polygamy loopholes for Universal Credit and we want them shut off for welfare across the board. Taxpayers in Britain should not be supporting marriages which would be illegal in the UK.
Tomorrow, backed by @KemiBadenoch, my Bill would end welfare recognition of polygamous marriages and explicitly exclude incestuous marriages.
Over to you, @UKLabour @andyburnham. Back the Bill. This really shouldn’t be difficult.
Not all cultures are equal and we should not be paying to recognise those which are explicitly illegal if practiced in the UK.

🔹We have oil & gas.
There is not one single argument that backs using imports while leaving the UK’s own supplies under the North Sea.
👉 End the ban on new licences.
👉 End the Energy Profits Levy.
👉 Permit Rosebank & Jackdaw.

As a former Rector of St Andrews University I respectfully urge its students not to support
someone who tries to understate the appalling psychological effects of rape
When I was a student at St Andrews University, the late great Nicholas Parsons was Rector. He was approachable, diligent, and did a proper job; students could contact him, he turned up, and he took the role seriously without turning it into a platform for ideology.
Now Q Manivannan is standing for the same position. Before becoming a Green MSP, Manivannan went on a podcast and claimed there is “definitely a demonisation of rape” and that rape is “a spectrum,” with “different modes” of consent and contexts. An apology followed, with claims of selective editing and insistence that all rape is equally serious. Rape crisis centres still called it out for minimising sexual violence.
A Rector is meant to be someone female students can trust when they need the student voice amplified on safety and assault. Electing a candidate whose public comments treated rape as a theoretical spectrum sends the opposite message to survivors: your experience can be relativised.
Gender-critical students face an extra problem. Manivannan is non-binary and insists on “they/them” pronouns. Putting someone in a position of institutional power who insists on those pronouns forces students who reject gender ideology to either comply or risk being labelled bigoted or simply not to contact their Rector at all. That’s not representation, it’s compelled speech from the person meant to open doors for them.
As an MSP representing Edinburgh and Lothians East, Q would also have less time available to his constituents.
For someone who is such a proponent of DEI, Q also seems very keen to greedily collect extra senior institutional roles for himself rather than sharing them out with others.
Nicholas Parsons showed what the Rector role should look like: friendly, diligent and focused on students. Manivannan’s record raises serious doubts about whether that standard can be met at St Andrews. Students and constituents should take note.

Isn't it ironic that the British public democratically voted for Brexit, yet nobody voted for Andy Burnham to become Prime Minister?
He wasn't even an MP at the last General Election.
He has no direct electoral mandate to be Prime Minister, never mind to take Britain back towards the EU.
The British public voted to leave.
Burnham should remember that.
Andy Burnham doesn't just want to bring Britain closer to the EU.
I believe he wants to take us back into the European Union through the back door.
Piece by piece, deal by deal, slowly reversing Brexit without ever asking the British public.
We voted to leave the EU, not to be dragged back in by stealth.
This cannot be allowed to happen.

The utter hypocrisy of Ed Miliband knows no end.
Yes, this is a very welcome decision but it does beg the question, why does Labour think drilling for oil and gas off the Falkland Islands is okay but not in our North Sea?
Labour have no excuse for not backing Jackdaw and Rosebank.
