Just In: Roger Niello will be the new Republican minority leader of the California State Senate. Niello, who represents parts of Sac County, will takeover for Brian Jones starting in November, per multiple sources. I’m told the vote happened this afternoon during caucus.

Today is Black Women’s Equal Pay Day — the date when Black women’s earnings finally catch up to what white men made at the end of last year. In California, we’re addressing this gap through strong laws, pay transparency, and our California Equal Pay Pledge. I’m especially proud of our Opportunity Youth Apprenticeship Grants, which support organizations like the Handy Foundation, where young Black women gain paid experience, mentorship, and career training in film and television. This is how we build a future where every woman has a real shot, especially in industries that have long kept women out.

If that’s what they do to a United States Senator with a question, imagine what they can do to any American that dares to speak up. We will hold this administration accountable.

The "contraception bible" is the CDC's set of guidelines that doctors use to assess which types of birth control are safe for women with chronic diseases. The team that develops the guidelines was cut by the Trump administration. nbcnews.com/health/womens-he…

Woke up this morning to the Trump Administration freezing ALL of CA’s Title X funding. Title X provides basic reproductive care like: - birth control - cancer screenings - STD testing It’s a Republican founded program — Richard Nixon of all people established it in 1970. This is just plain cruel. reuters.com/business/healthc…

“What happens to health research when ‘women’ is a banned word?” This is disturbing, devastating, and heartbreaking. So many of us have worked so hard to bring parity to women’s health research. Women are half of the population yet we do not have the research to make informed decisions about our health journeys. I don’t care what political party you belong to, everyone should be outraged about this. Those of us who are women’s health warriors are going to have to dig in, channel our righteous anger, and make sure that women’s health research isn’t obliterated. 19thnews.org/2025/03/women-l…

🚨 Introduced! AB 432 🚨 Menopause affects half the population, yet it remains under-researched and overlooked in healthcare. AB 432 is here to change that. Over the coming weeks, we’ll share more about why menopause care matters and how this bill will close the care gap.
