If psychiatry starts using biomarkers without fixing its track record on physical health rule-outs, we risk giving a high-tech gloss to the same old habit of blaming the brain for everything. Floridians deserve better medicine than that. Would you like to read the full article? Comment ‘biomarkers’ and we will send you the link.

For decades, patients have been told "it's all in your head" — only to later learn they had autoimmune disorders, infections, or neurological conditions. That is not a diagnostic breakthrough; it is a systemic blind spot that must end.  What do you think? Tell us in the comments

A child-welfare bill passed the Florida Senate 37–0…and then died without a House vote. CS/CS/CS/SB 560 dealt with psychotropic-drug procedures for children in state custody. It unanimously passed the Senate on March 4, 2026, then died in House committee nine days later. So Florida enters the second half of 2026 with new guidance—but the same 21-year-old statute governing how these drugs are authorized for children in state custody. ➡️ Would you like to read the full article? The rush to psychiatric biomarkers doesn't prove mental illness; it exposes how often real, physical disease has been ignored while people are labeled and drugged. A lab test cannot fix a failure to do a proper medical workup.  Would you like to read the full article? Comment 'Read' and we will send you the link

A memo can recommend change. A statute can require it. Florida’s new guidance urges a different approach to children struggling with mental-health concerns—but it carries no enforcement mechanism and does not require prescribers to change a single prescription. If Florida wants these protections to last, they have to move from recommendation to law. ➡️ Would you like to read the full article? Comment 'Info' and we will send you the link.

Every 72-hour hold is a profound intrusion on a person's liberty. Using that power should be a last resort, backed by strict safeguards, oversight, and accountability — not routine practice.  Would you like to read the full article? Comment 'Info' and we will send you the link

A system that relies on force to appear responsive is not truly responsive at all. Real solutions invest in voluntary, community-based supports and early, non-coercive help that people actually want to use. What do you think? Tell us in the comments
