Widowhood in 100 Words: Traveling Alone
When Jason died, I knew I had to learn to do certain things alone.
So I went to Italy by myself.
Okay, that’s an oversimplification. I signed up for an Italian writing retreat with plenty of other people.
But I spent two days in Naples, alone, before the retreat started.
And … I loved it.
I ate where I wanted, walked at my own pace, drank wine and my very first Aperol Spritz all by myself.
Do I want all my traveling to be alone? Absolutely not.
But it boosted my confidence to realize how great my own company is.

I’m loving working on this short story collection by Evan Grant! Just dark and spooky enough (without being ultra gory). I’ll be doing some of this narration live on IG, so be on the lookout! This is SUCH a fun horror collection.
18 months ago today, it was a lovely Sunday, and it turned out to be the last day of a beautiful, too-short life.
Jason, we’re doing well! Both kids are about to start their college classes. They’re excelling, of course.
HOLY CRAP I just submitted my first agent query ever. #QueryTrenches
Have I mentioned how much I love this series? I basically begged Juliette to let me narrate the first one, and we’ve been happily working together ever since. If you like romantic fantasy with lots of witty humor, cozy elements, and a bit of spice, please

This week, I’ve been thoroughly enjoying narrating STUCK: How Money, Media, and Violence Prevent Change in Congress. This extraordinarily well-researched book by Maya L. Kornberg (Johns Hopkins University Press) is giving me understanding of why Congress has trouble

I’m finishing up narration on this book today. (Actually, it’s my not-so-secret altar ego narrating—“she” does some of my steamier stuff.) It’s an absolutely delightful urban fantasy romcom starring an elf (the Christmas kind), two vampires, and a human,
Sending a request into the X-iverse—seeking grief and caregiving professionals (coaches, authors, podcasters, healthcare/cancer/hospice workers, other experts).
I’m getting ready to query my memoir, DON’T SAY DEATH. It’s a candid, life-affirming, sometimes witty book about

how my late husband & I navigated his cancer crisis when our coping mechanisms pulled us apart—and the decades we thought we’d have together shrank to months.

I'm so incredibly grateful that Beth agreed to contribute to my upcoming audiobook!
Definitely a celebrity appearance! (I'm hoping to get her to do a little more for it soon, but shhhh about that for now...)
