In defense of ice-breakers (sort of). As usual, thanks for being my facilitating, reflecting, and writing buddy @Keesling_Math. Now we might need to duck some tomatoes being chucked our way. 😆 ascd.org/el/articles/why-ice… – at Royal Oak, MI

Reminder that 100s of millions of our tax dollars, meant for our students, remain locked away in Lansing because adult problems. Meanwhile there’s not even an inkling that anyone we elected has any urgency to pass a school aid budget for next year. And this budget is CRITICAL!

Letter from national ed groups debunking idea schools aren’t spending fed aid. Shouldn’t be lost on anyone in MI that DC pols are complaining that money isn’t getting out while Lansing pols literally refuse to send it out because adult problems>classrooms and kids.

Fine: Let’s be very clear what this is, tho. These are the unpaid costs of previous generations’ services. Sure the funds have been mismanaged by Lansing. But the original sin was—and still is—unwillingness by Lansing to actually fund their mandated gov’t programs.
Michigan is making progress on pension debts but there’s a long way to go… taxpayers are still on the hook for more than $50 billion! Paying off these long-term liabilities would free up our state budget to pay for priorities like roads. bit.ly/2GCWdrS
