Harsh truth nobody told you about success: Rent is due every single day. You never really make it. And coasting isn’t an option. Every single day, you have to fight to keep your seat at the table. Because the day you stop doing the work is the day things start to fall apart. There's an old saying that I love: Every morning in the savannah, the gazelle wakes up and knows it must outrun the lion or be killed. The lion wakes up and knows it must outrun the gazelle or starve. Whether you're the gazelle or the lion, when you wake up in the morning, you'd better start running. Rent is due daily. Pay it with pride.

When I was writing Unreal Engine 1, my time was divided as follows: - Around 30% went to seriously deep coding on hard problems: assembly language texture mappers, C++ BSP trees, data persistence, object oriented systems design, and networking. - Around 70% was just typing and refactoring large bodies of code needed for a complete engine feature set. This was not hard, and while I was doing it my mind was mostly on the deeper coding topics, thinking and planning for what's next. It didn't feel much different from vibe coding today, except that it was just me typing code on an IBM Model M keyboard rather than prompting it and reviewing the results. So, it has always seemed perfectly logical that we would rely on AI for that 70%, once the AI could do it with a similar quality standard as we could, which has never been perfection. It came as no surprise that, after a few years of AI model evolution, it was able to take the reigns on that 70% and free up programmers' time for more valuable tasks. What's more of a surprise is the emergence of AI as a sort of insta-Carmack able to solve hard technical problems quite cleverly and often cleanly, and that it's able to reason about and work in complex 3D scenes both by operating the tools and by directly understanding the raw data files. I abandoned assembly language in 1998 when out-of-order CPUs made much simpler C/C++ code faster, and never I missed it. If prompting through architectural documents, concept art, and design plans can transcend typing code and tweaking vertices, that will enable developers to spend their time on higher-level, higher value technical and creative tasks. What matters is the end product, whether it's a game or an engine. Anything developers can do to try out more ideas and make better software and games faster is a win for everyone.

This is bullshit, Kenney. I’m the same tech tree following optimist who moved from C to C++, from 2D to 3D, and from closed source to open source. I run a company. I write code. I contribute to published papers. I’ve upped my expectations of AI. Up yours!

Ok so firstly, insane demo. But, can we talk about how the new design looks like the spiritual successor to the Lamborghini Murciélago?

If you feel unprepared to defend Jesus or Christianity when challenged, you don't need any clever arguments or advanced training. There are simple, clear and biblically grounded ways to answer a few of the most common objections... • If they say: "Jesus never existed." You say: Even non-Christian historians like Tacitus, Josephus and Pliny the Younger mention Him. No serious historian doubts that a man named Jesus of Nazareth existed and was crucified under Pontius Pilate. • If they say: "The Bible has been manipulated and changed too many times, it can't be trusted." You say: Ask them, How precisely do you know what the Bible originally said in order to make such a claim? We have over 5,800 Greek manuscripts of the New Testament. Scholars compare them carefully, and the core text remains about 99.5% consistent. No other ancient document comes close to that level of preservation. The message is cohesive throughout, there is a unity of thought and none of the real variations change any core teaching or big idea within it. • If they say: "The disciples just stole the body of Christ." You say: People will die for what they sincerely believe is true. They do not willingly get tortured and executed for something they know is a lie. Most of the disciples, except John who died of old age, were persecuted and martyred for claiming they had seen the risen Jesus and none of them recanted to save themselves. • If they say: "Jesus was just a good moral teacher." You say: A good moral teacher does not claim to forgive sins, accept worship, or call Himself equal with God. Those claims force a choice: He was either lying, insane, or telling The Truth. The Gospels present Him as the last of these. [see John 10:30, Mark 2:5–12 & John 20:28] • If they say: "A good God wouldn't allow suffering." You say: Christianity is the only worldview in which even God Himself entered human suffering. He did not merely watch from a distance, He was tortured and killed on a cross for sinners and the only one to defeat death. No other religion has a God with physical scars. [Isaiah 53; Philippians 2:5–8; Revelation 5:6] These short replies are easy to understand, historically grounded and rooted in the biblical picture of who Jesus is and what He did. I hope they can help you to earnestly contend for the faith. :)

What does a man who spent seventy five years living in his father’s tent have to do with the question you have been avoiding about your own life? In this lecture, Jordan Peterson works through the story of Abraham and arrives at the hardest passage in scripture, the moment a father is told to take his only son up a mountain and offer him as a burnt offering. The atheists call it proof of a monstrous God. Peterson thinks they have the story upside down, and getting to why takes him through a savings account, a sports team, a statue Michelangelo carved at twenty four, and the thing every mother does on the first day of school. Then a police officer asks him for one piece of advice, and the answer takes six minutes and costs Moses the promised land. By the end there is a calculation involving twenty minutes, fifty repetitions, and the two percent of your life you could fix this week. What Abraham is actually offered turns out not to be faith in the conventional sense at all, but a trade: everything you are comfortable with, in exchange for something you already know you want more. This lecture was filmed on March 10, 2024, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Nothing is out of reach. Whatever you want, you can have it, but understand the world doesn't run on fairness or dreams or potential. It runs on force, on who takes action and who waits, on who moves and who talks themselves into staying still. You don't get what you want by wanting it badly enough. You get it by becoming someone who refuses to live without it, by building your entire life around that one obsession and cutting loose everything that doesn't serve it.

you have to be brave enough to bet on your potential and relentless enough to spend years proving yourself right. you have to want to become that person with an intensity that makes settling for anything less damn near impossible.

the people with the highest latent potential, the incredibly attractive, the exceptional, the best of them, are those who can peacefully carry two extreme ideas within themselves at the same time & stay happily calm. To be a relentless hustler and extremely lazy, intensely horny yet in total control, brutally serious at work & completely unserious about life, to love women & hate them at the same time.

I am relentless because I have seen what happens to men who stop believing there is more for them. the fire that once drove them becomes a memory they occasionally bring up over dinner. men my age already talking about their best days in the past tense. I cannot accept that for myself. I refuse to spend the rest of my life looking backward at the person I used to be. I will not. I will not.
