Trump is trying to destroy the agency that supports children with disabilities and low-income schools. That's not just cruel—it's stupid. Thanks to @AFTunion and @rweingarten for standing up and fighting for our kids.
Our #ProtectOurKids Day of Action is today. Gutting public education to give tax cuts to billionaires would deny opportunities to children—including students with disabilities & kids living in poverty. I’m proud of our members for speaking out! aft.org/ProtectOurKids

Really cool new analysis from my colleagues @DavidMadland, @Prof_CEW, and Sachin Shiva (who is wisely not on Twitter) showing that union members do better regardless of education or race. You can read about it here: americanprogress.org/article…

New analysis from @amprog quantifies how union membership is associated with greater household wealth across education levels and can narrow racial wealth gaps.
There's a huge wealth gap between union and non-union workers across education levels. Overall, those in unions had a median wealth of $338,482 compared to $199,948 for nonunion workers.
• Union members also have more job security. trib.al/kQZ9hNU

ALT A range plot shows median U.S. household wealth is higher for union households than non-union for all education levels. Among household heads or spouses who aren't high school educated, the median income is $22,800 for nonunion households and $69,510 for union households. Among household heads or spouses who have a college degree or higher, the median income is $476,105 for nonunion households and $533,436 for union households.

Currently, WIC funding is covered by the CR. There’s special language allowing WIC to spend at a higher rate as needed, as long as it doesn’t exceed last year’s total.
The issue: the need has increased. So, under a date change CR w/o a fix, hungry newborns will go w/o benefits.
