This is how traditional Portuguese port wine 🍷 is made.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The video depicts people playing in grape must, not traditional Portuguese port wine foot treading. That process uses coordinated teams in rhythmic marching (corte) then freer movement (liberdade) inside shallow granite lagares. saveur.com/grape-stomping… winefolly.com/tips/making-po… winewithseth.com/winewiki/foot-…

can we start calling things human slop. i'm so sick of people acting like their code or math proof is inherently more valuable because they slaved away making it themselves. especially when the field is so fucking deterministic and we can actually check whether the result works. what gets me even more angry is when it's a thankless effort like oss. someone spends their valuable time making something for you, for free, and you think it's okay to criticize how they go about it and half the time, if they hadn't found an easier way to make it, the thing wouldn't exist at all. there isn't some "lovingly handcrafted" alternative waiting in the wings there's just nothing. each person being able to do way more means problems that wouldn't even have been given a thought can finally get solutions. somebody with a one-off bug in a game can go ahead and patch it themselves. somebody with a rare genetic condition could get together with a small group of people and have a real shot at contributing to research that nobody was prioritizing, without needing billions of dollars behind them just to get started. people can finally do things they couldn't do before, including things nobody else was ever going to bother doing for them, and your first instinct is to get mad about how they did it. i think that's so self-serving. when you'd rather something useful never existed than accept that somebody had an easier time making it than you would have, there's something genuinely ugly about that
Introducing Diorama: an OSS Minecraft minimap that shows your world in 3D, updating live as you build Huge shoutout to @8Blits, this is heavily inspired by his map for @HallowPrison 🙏 Out now on CurseForge for Fabric, Minecraft 26.3 & 1.21.11

Hasan Piker (Hasanabi) is being nominated at the Streamer Awards. Here is him cheering on the Houthis boarding a civilian vessel in the Red Sea and taking the crew hostage. @EpicGames why are you partnering with an event that platforms people who cheer on terrorist attacks?

We have been getting rave reviews on our new experimental games launcher using a custom modified version of Ruffle. It lets you play ALL of our Flash games (AQWorlds, DF, MQ, AQ, ED) blazing fast on your computer AND on ANDROID phones/tablets. This packed room at Yulgars Inn, will full animations on, is runs 40+FPS. In an empty room it would just run at the frame rate cap. More updates coming.

I keep seeing people rt the claude-gzip tweet saying "oh this was so obvious, look they are discovering, this is what I do since 1942" meanwhile completely missing: - large conversations have thinking signatures + images in b64 which are high in entropy = compression is not that efficient anyway - rest would be hit or miss considering gzip adds latency on both sides => if you have decent bandwidth it might just hurt instead of helping - rep. HTTP requests where you send entire transcripts is a horrible method of exchange, needlessly O(N^2) - more importantly, since they have `store: true` implemented for API, just not OAuth, they clearly know how to optimize it just fine > look at this [horrible] thing they just implemented! i would have implemented [horrible+1] on day 1, smh they are learning the fundamentals like shut up man 🤣

GPT 6.1 Sol Ultra vs DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 Max, I still can't believe a model that's 90% cheaper can produce results this good, how is this even possible? Both models took roughly the same amount of time since most of it was spent rendering, but the quality DeepSeek managed to achieve is incredible, especially considering the API cost was just 0.44 cents for the entire test! I think having access to free web search is making a huge difference and giving DeepSeek a much bigger advantage than before, especially with its native multimodal capabilities. The more I test this model, the more I wonder how they're managing to offer so much at such a low price, I'm still running even bigger tests with different models to see how far it can go, more results coming soon!

Seriously, there is no way to algorithmically filter out the obvious AI slopreplies?
The paper on how a team of Gemini 4 agents beat Minecraft is worth a look. It is accessible example (partially because it is AI written) of spontaneous coordination among agents to accomplish a complicated goal & how their approach differs from humans/ arxiv.org/pdf/2610.22319

In terms of the balance of performance and convenience it's one of the best (if not the best).
When in doubt, just use C# and ASP.NET Core. It's blazing fast. .NET 11 RC2 is even faster. For me, it's the best overall major web framework - auth, config, logging, perf, modular middleware, DI, cross-plat, etc. But I didn't expect this:

Campfire rewrite journey continues. I let the clankers run for a day, go through all the PRs that were submitted, verify the work, merge what was ready, and then ask it to bring all architectural improvements to each implementation. Good old C is now in the lead!
