Adults are falling short on the youth sports scene at an alarming rate, and the kids are paying the price. Civility and perspective are desperately needed. It's time to bring a sense of normalcy - and decency - back for the sake of our future. messengernews.net/sports/loc… @IHSAA

Came home at 1 a.m. after work to this. Love the stillness and peace of the night.
Not kidding when I say, a lot of the misery of modern life derives from the fact that we live on computers when we should be living in villages bordered by woods, canopied by stars, hearing the owl shriek in the night and waking to the clear ringing of bells.

- The Yankees have won one World Series since 2000. - Duke basketball has been to just four Final Fours since 2004. - The Dallas Cowboys haven't been to a Super Bowl since 1995. - Notre Dame hasn't won a national title in football since 1988. Winning is really hard.

Edward R. Murrow is a Washington State alum. We live in the dumbest timeline ever. And it's only going to get worse.
Perhaps lost in the shuffle today is WSU's announcement that the athletics department is partnering with FanWord, an AI company. This means that game recaps, previews and other elements of WSUCougars.com may not be written by humans going forward.

I'm never leaving this app. You couldn't parody this if you tried.
Michigan’s 3-2. Fans are rightfully emotional. The offense isn’t moving the ball. QB play needs to be better. The run game needs to be better. All of these things can be true. But at some point, you have to stop blaming the symptoms and identify the root cause. This is college football. You need the talent, but you need the leadership to empower the talent. There were 3 current NFL Head Coaches empowering the talent in 2021-23. One is the current Super Bowl champ, with 2 other former Michigan staffers as ST Coordinator and Defensive Run Game Coordinator. Right now, we’re not seeing anything close to that. There’s coaching malpractice on a weekly basis, and it’s in every area. Clock management, lack of situational awareness, and making things extremely easy for the opposing play callers. 🧵

News release: WSU is partnering with FanWord, an AI company, to create AI-generated stories like game recaps, feature stories, player bios and "other editorial content." Soon, some of the content you see produced by @WSUCougars will be generated by AI

Football is a sport that needs development and chemistry building and just plain time both on and off the field. It's really difficult to just build a new team every year. Makes Cignetti not only more impressive, but borderline singular. Still have no idea how he does it.
In this era, there will be very few consistent programs and linear rises. Fan bases will have to understand that 5-7 after 9-3 is normal. Just a transfer class not connecting or a few of the wrong guys leaving. Doesn't mean you've lost it. This is CFB now. Stinks. But this is it.

The run blocking was "great"? wtf
PFF Notebook: #MichiganState vs Wisconsin 📝 - Run blocking = great - TE room a major liability - Linebacker depth shines again - KK Smith sees 24 snaps at WR Not a *ton* of horrible grades, emphasizing that MSU’s downfall stemmed from repeated poor execution on high-leverage downs… Player grades & snap count analysis (READ): 247sports.com/college/michig…

This sounds weird to say and the payoff isn't really much other than maybe a reprieve, but this is - relatively speaking - about as close to a "must win" as it gets for both Fitzgerald and MSU vs. Illinois.

The time to do that was about 8-9 months ago
Let's look at it, let's get it fixed.

Kind of like how really good coordinators are jammed into the roles of being head coaches, when most have no business being that.
Kelvin Sheppard is the perfect example of a coach who is meant to focus on position rather than be a full fledged coordinator. Seen too many cases just like him. With a bottom 3 defense in the NFL you just have to move on at this point.

This might be the worst Lions defense I've ever seen, which is saying a LOT.
