👥 Socorro ISD is one of the largest employers in the community, with more than 5,300 employees who could receive a salary increase through Proposition A. As health insurance premiums continue to climb, teachers could take home less without the salary increase Prop A would provide. The state requires armed security officers and additional safety measures at every campus, but does not fully fund those requirements. Socorro ISD receives $57 per student in state safety and security funding, while the district’s actual needs total $144 per student, leaving the district to fund an additional $4 million annually.
