New Hub research: Hub researchers have developed a framework for quantifying the consumption of shrubby fuels during fire. This is important for estimating smoke emissions and modelling post-fire fuel accumulation sciencedirect.com/science/ar… (1/3)

The framework was used to estimate shrubby fuel consumption during prescribed burns, showing that fine fuels were significantly reduced, with little effect on total above-ground biomass of the shrub layer. (2/3)

On Saturday night, @bushfirehub PhD student @bridgeridoo and @mikeletnic from UNSW spotted 19 greater gliders in one hour along Army Road in the heart of the 2019 Gospers Mtn bushfire, the largest forest fire in NSW recorded history. Glider populations seems to have survived OK.
