Heidi Levine, photojournalist for @wapo suffered serious injuries from vicious & cowardly attack. Heidi is US Citizen, clear ID as journalist. Details of who under investigation, but those who attacked unarmed reporter should spend YRS in prison. We have called for a full investigation, arrest, and prosecution to the fullest extent of the law to whoever participated in this. Attacking a female photographer is despicable act of terror carried out by masked cowards. Dishonorable act of senseless violence.
President Herzog is right to speak out against extremist violence being perpetrated by some Jewish residents of the West Bank. These attacks are reprehensible and indefensible. The failure by the state to protect Palestinian civilians is a moral stain on the government.
I just called Washington Post photographer Heidi Levine, who was brutally attacked by violent rioters on Friday.
As President of the State of Israel, I strongly condemn this outrageous and shocking violence, both the terrible attack on Heidi and other grave incidents of violence, such as what took place today in Taybeh.
I expressed my deepest sorrow to Heidi and apologized for what she went through.
The despicable behavior of the perpetrators of this attack does not represent the citizens or the values of the State of Israel.
Israel is a democratic state governed by the rule of law, and it must act with full force against every form of violence. Each incident is being thoroughly investigated, and we await the findings.
All government, security, and law enforcement authorities must use every means at their disposal to investigate thoroughly, apprehend these lawbreakers, and bring them to justice with the fullest extent of the law.
On behalf of the entire nation, I wish Heidi good health and a speedy recovery.

We strongly condemn the recent violence in which Israeli extremists attacked Palestinians, burned olive trees, and injured a Washington Post photographer. We wish Heidi Levine a full and speedy recovery from her injuries.
We call for an urgent, coordinated effort from Israeli authorities to bring an end to the wave of Israeli extremist violence that has harmed civilians throughout the West Bank.
Order must be restored, and violent extremists prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

In which I sit down with my friend & teacher @mdarawshe of @givathaviva to talk about how we can and must work together to achieve the full social & political equality of Israel’s Arab citizens.
Listen, like & share. Comments welcome.
What does a shared society in Israel actually look like?
On Boston Jewish Now, @BurtonJM speaks with @mdarawshe of @givathaviva about the work underway in schools, communities, and workplaces to fulfill Israel’s founding promise of equality.

It’s not about Israel.
To the extent that Jews are feeling politically homeless right now, it’s because we see Democratic party leaders failing to stand up to gaslighting antisemites like you, or, worse, telling us to ‘take one for the team’.
Not just for Cambridge residents!
Please stand with our community, in person and online, as we face yet another effort to go way beyond criticism—even harsh criticism— of Israel’s government in ways that make our Jewish community here feel unwelcome in our city.
Details below.
JCRC stands with our partners in Cambridge's Jewish community in opposing these measures and calling for a strong turnout at Monday's meeting, both in person and on Zoom.

This is unambiguously anti-Semitic.
It's discrimination against Jews based solely on opposition to Israel's policies, which is definitionally racist. It would be no different from banning a gathering of Russians because of anger over the war in Ukraine -- which, of course, is something that never happens.
Since October 7, this kind of anti-Semitism has become increasingly normalized.
Whatever one's views about Israel, Palestine, and Gaza, this type of behavior should be uniformly condemned by both right and left.
It is unbelievably sad that in Ireland an International conference on Antisemitism was marred by the very JewHate it is seeking to combat before it had even started.
Here is a verbatim report of what happened. It should be shared worldwide and

Of course, she *could* financially exercise "Palestine support" by donating her royalties to an organization that isn't currently banned for terrorism.
She *could* even support a peace-oriented org.
But where would be the fun (or, as in @nymag's headline, publicity) in that?
‘I use my words to dehumanize Jews, but don’t take me seriously.’
Thanks no thanks. I take people seriously and literally.
Those who normalize Piker are making the choice to normalize a world where it is dangerous to live freely as Jews.

What a disgusting and dishonest statement.
In 2024, over 70% of Jewish voters supported Vice President Kamala Harris for president. Now, Jewish New Yorkers who express legitimate concerns about rising antisemitism are somehow “fascists”? The chutzpah!
Jewish Americans have helped build this country, strengthened our democracy, and contributed immeasurably to our civic, cultural, and economic life.
Both major political parties must reject the extremism within their ranks that seeks to make Jewish Americans feel unwelcome.
Regardless of the political climate, presidents from both parties have consistently recognized Israel as a vital American ally. Our longstanding relationship benefits both nations economically, strategically, and culturally. That reality cannot be erased by heated and offensive political rhetoric.
Leadership means confronting antisemitism, rejecting ideological litmus tests, and standing up for every community.
Governor Hochul has demonstrated that leadership by championing stronger protections for houses of worship, signing landmark campus civil rights legislation, and investing historic resources in security.
We need more leaders to step up. Disagreement is not fascism. Jewish identity is not a political offense. And Jewish Americans are not going anywhere.

It was a pleasure to host my friend & teacher Mohammad Darawshe to talk about his vision and his work building a shared society for all of Israel's citizens. I am proud to support this important work as part of my, and our, commitment to a Zionist vision for Israel's future.
We held a conversation with @mdarawshe of @givathaviva on the work of advancing Jewish-Arab partnership in Israel. Advancing a shared society has long been part of JCRC's commitment, and we're grateful for partners like @givathaviva who continue to lead this important work.

Now that Gov Hochul has opted NY in, yet another reason that MA should opt-in to the new education tax credit. It would be a real shame if MA donor dollars were sent out of state to support kids in NY for lack of an option to give here. jewishinsider.com/2026/10/ho…

Replying to @NobelPrize
We are shocked that the Nobel committee honored Navi Pillay. Her troubling record on antisemitism and gross breach of ethics in presiding over a notorious UN commission utterly disqualifies her from such an award.
The Nobel Peace Prize should uphold universal human rights and reject antisemitism unequivocally. Honoring Pillay without confronting this record undermines those principles and risks rewarding prejudice rather than advancing peace.
In July 2021, Ms. Pillay accepted to chair a Pakistani-sponsored UN Commission of Inquiry into alleged Israeli crimes. The rules of due process require that fact-finders in the human rights field be impartial. Yet prior to accepting this post, Pillay had publicly pronounced herself, in extreme terms, on the very issues that her inquiry is mandated to investigate.
In June 2020, she signed a manifesto calling on governments to “Sanction Apartheid Israel.” In June 2021, a month before heading the inquiry, Pillay wrote a letter to President Biden calling to punish Israel for the May 2021 war with Hamas. She has made many more prior prejudicial pronouncements. (See: unwatch.org/wp-content/uploa…)
This not all. In July 2022, Pillay’s fellow commissioner Miloon Kothari railed against “the Jewish Lobby” and questioned Israel’s right to be a member state of the UN. Mr. Kothari was condemned by the world’s leading democracies, and by top UN officials including Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. Astonishingly, however, Navi Pillay defended him.
For those reasons, the Mayor of Berlin in 2022 withdrew her support for a town hall event set to honor Navi Pillay, and the award was canceled.
By honoring Pillay, the Nobel committee has failed to uphold the principles it seeks to celebrate. International justice depends on impartiality. When an investigator campaigns to punish a country before examining the evidence, she compromises the credibility of both her findings and the institution she represents.
Pillay’s defense of a colleague who invoked “the Jewish lobby” is especially disturbing. A human rights leader should recognize and unequivocally reject antisemitic stereotypes. Her response instead helped shield her colleague from accountability. The Nobel committee should have confronted that record before presenting her as a model of integrity.
The victims of discrimination deserve institutions that apply the same standards to everyone.
Today’s decision sends the wrong message: that achievements elsewhere excuse prejudice against Jews and the abandonment of basic standards of fairness when investigating Israel. That weakens the cause of universal human rights.
👇
The Nobel committee chair says they have "great faith" in Navi Pillay's integrity, but whether the Hamas-Israel war can be called a genocide is for the ICJ to decide, not them.
Then why give the Peace Prize to the person whose commission already decided it, with no authority to do so?
This is the same Navi Pillay who:
🚩 Signed a 2020 statement calling on governments to "Sanction Israel," then was appointed a year later to chair the UN inquiry into Israel without disclosing it
🚩 Defended a fellow commissioner who said social media is "controlled largely by the Jewish lobby," calling him "deliberately misquoted." He later apologized for his antisemitism himself
🚩 Ran the 2009 Durban conference that Ahmadinejad opened with an antisemitic speech, after dismissing Jewish groups' warnings as a "lobbying campaign"
🚩 Criticized the US in 2014 for funding Iron Dome to protect Israeli civilians from rockets, with no mention of Hamas firing them
They handed her the world's most famous honour two days after the October 7 anniversary and then said they're not taking a position on what she's known for.
So what do they mean by "peace"?
