Mark Zuckerberg is bankrupting a $22 billion startup because they refused to sell to him.
The company is Kalshi.
They run the largest prediction market in the US. Users bet real money on real-world outcomes.
Last year, prediction markets did $28 billion in monthly volume across the industry.
This month, they did $220 BILLION.
The sector literally 8x'd in a single year.
Bernstein now projects the entire prediction market industry will hit $1 TRILLION by 2030.
Zuckerberg saw the growth curve coming. Last year, when Kalshi was valued at only $2 billion, he sat down with founder and CEO Tarek Mansour to discuss buying the entire company.
Mansour said no.
Kalshi went on to raise at $11 billion in December. Then $22 billion in March. It is now pursuing a $40 billion round and openly weighing an IPO.
Zuckerberg's response:
He walked back to Meta headquarters, took every piece of information he learned in that meeting, and directed a small internal team to build a Kalshi clone from the ground up.
Meta's version is called Arena. It uses Llama to generate the questions. Every one of Meta's 3.5 billion daily users will get access.
And here's where the plan gets ruthless...
Meta is deliberately launching with play money. That single decision lets Zuckerberg dodge every gambling regulator on Earth while he trains billions of users to bet on prediction markets.
Meanwhile Kalshi is spending millions fighting state gambling laws, the CFTC, an Illinois sports tax, a Minnesota felony statute, and the Department of Justice.
Kalshi is the crash test dummy. Meta is the getaway driver.
The moment the regulatory war is settled, Zuckerberg flips the switch. Arena becomes a real-money market, and 3.5 billion users are already trained to use it. Kalshi's user base of a few million cannot compete.
This is the exact playbook Meta ran on Snapchat in 2016 when Instagram Stories launched. It is the exact playbook they ran on TikTok in 2020 when Reels launched. It is the exact playbook they ran on Twitter in 2023 when Threads launched.
The FTC took Meta to court over this pattern last year and called it "buy or bury." The judge sided with Meta. So the playbook is legally protected.
Tarek Mansour walked into a meeting with the most predatory copycat in tech history and gave him the entire pitch deck for the fastest growing product in Silicon Valley.
Six months later, Zuckerberg is executing on that intel while Mansour is stuck defending his company in courts across America.
Kalshi survived Zuckerberg's offer. But it probably will not survive Zuckerberg's clone.
Meta ended Q1 with $81 billion in cash. That is enough to buy every prediction market company on Earth six times over. Zuckerberg is choosing to STEAL them instead because he can, and because the courts already gave him permission.
The next 12 months will decide whether Kalshi becomes a $50 billion IPO or a cautionary tale about what happens when a founder says no to Meta.
What do you think?

Keir Starmer, you snivelling two-tier cunt, with that punchable weasel face and dead fish eyes like a lawyer fucked senseless in the courtroom. Labour's spineless prick, bending over for every migrant boat, globalist cock and tax raid while Britain gets gang-raped by your U-turns, winter fuel cuts and economic fuckups. Dithering on Iran like a coward as Trump calls you 'very disappointing' – no balls, no Churchill, just limp surrender. Fuck off back to your DPP days, you boring establishment slag.

How would a Restore Britain Government support small businesses? First step, and possibly the most important. We understand the problems and trust me, I know how difficult it is. I’ve been there, I’ve done it. The effort that goes into keeping a small firm profitable and operational is vast, and NOBODY in Government understands that.
THE most important way to help small businesses is tax.
GET IT DOWN. Corporation tax - we should be aiming for the lowest in Europe. Undercut our neighbours, take their business. Be ruthless. Make Britain the most attractive place to operate on the continent. Watch how the money then flows in.
Rates will slashed on income and dividend, thresholds pushed up. We must urgently reward success. NI not raised, but cut. If we want businesses to hire, MAKE IT CHEAPER.
Because what happens when employment gets more expensive?
Costs get passed on. Contracts stall. Hiring cancelled. Investment is paused. It grinds the economy to a halt. Businesses stop spending money. They wait and see.
Everyone suffers.
IR35 will go in the bin on day one. Things change, contracts change, circumstances change. IR35 accounts for none of that, adding layers of unnecessary paperwork and regulation. Flexibility matters.
VAT threshold would be doubled. There are so many businesses hovering just under £90k, desperately avoiding VAT. Fair enough, I don’t blame them. So let’s hike the threshold and unleash that demand. We would like to see a tax holiday for small businesses in the first few years - give them the breathing space they need to grow and find their feet.
HMRC will pick up the phone, and you will be able to speak to an advisor who can actually speak fluent English. What a mad shock that would be...
We will end the HR-ification of Britain that is used to blackmail employers. Regulatory frameworks that are used to suffocate small businesses will be burnt away.
Farage attacks private sector employees working from home. I couldn’t give a shit where people choose to work. If the employer and employee are happy, then it’s none of our business.
Failing public sector officials? Different story.
Business rates for small businesses, abolished. We will brutally crack down on illicit trading - does Britain need so many Turkish barbers and vape shops? The answer, quite obviously, is no. Let’s be honest about what’s really often going on here. Money laundering.
There would be free car parking in high streets all over Britain. These little gnomes in councils have no idea. If parking is free at the retail parks, people will just go there. Let’s encourage them back into our high streets - that means tackling crime too, obviously, but one step a time here...
Licensing laws, planning bureaucracy, council red tape.
We will obliterate it all.
Let’s back British hospitality. Cut VAT, business rates abolished and burn back the endless nonsense they have to deal with. Ease laws on closing times and fast-track permits for outdoor seating. If people want to enjoy a late night drink or two, it's none of our business to tell them otherwise.
Restore Britain will put those jumped-up little council bastards back in their box. I promise you that.
Inheritance tax will be abolished. If a family wants to pass their business down the generations, then Government must not stand in the way. Tax has been paid, there should not be another bill following a death. It’s wicked and cruel.
Above all else - businesses need stable, long term thinking. The Budget should be a complete non-event, other than further tax cuts.
This can all be funded by brutalising down the fraudulent state that has become the enemy of the people.
And let me tell you this. ANYBODY who gets business will understand that these measures will pay for themselves many times over. If we reward hard work, then we’ll get more of it. More tax will be paid, and the economy will boom.
These are just my initial thoughts on what a Restore Britain Government would do.
We would create an environment in which it's easy to do business, and then we would leave you the hell alone.
The message is this to small business owners...
Restore Britain is on your side.
You finally have a political party that will fight for your interests.

Dear young, ambitious Brits,
If the UK government introduces an exit tax I would HIGHLY recommend you leave the UK to build your wealth elsewhere.
We live in a global economy and your best opportunities will probably take you far and wide. There will come a time when it makes sense to do a few years in the USA, you might want to head to the fast-growing UAE or have a chapter in Singapore. Life will dish out many opportunities that involve moving elsewhere for a time.
A wealth tax will pin you down. Imagine you launch and build a company in London, you raise £2M from investors at a £20M valuation, you then grow the business and on paper it’s worth £50M. If you then want to leave, the government will shake you down for 20% of your equity valuation before you can go.
Imagine you make great choices and sacrifices for your career, you start earning serious income and you buy a family home. Then you get an irresistible offer to work in Sydney. Now you have to pay exit taxes on the value of your home.
It’s not worth the risk. Not when the UK is such a small part of the global economy and not when the UK economy isn’t even growing faster than inflation.
You would be better to leave now while you have nothing, build abroad and then return home if and when it makes sense.
Right now every country is making a choice as to how they want to treat talented, successful and wealthy people. Some countries are saying they want to attract these types of people and some countries are saying they want to punish these types of people. Sadly the UK is heading towards the latter.
This isn’t your fault and it isn’t your responsibility to fix an incompetent government with an out of control spending problem. It’s your responsibility to make the most of your skills and ambition and go where the opportunities take you.
Explore your options and if a wealth tax is introduced, be sure to take that as a sign that your government is hostile towards your full potential and success.
