live the life of your dreams according to your vision and purpose instead of the expectations and opinions of others.
“Blood for Power” MBR
They say it’s for freedom, for flags in the sand,
But the truth lies buried beneath every land.
For oil and for money, for power and greed,
They water the soil where the innocent bleed.
The generals speak proudly, their medals all shine,
While mothers keep praying for sons left behind.
They promise us honor, they promise us peace,
But every war born only grants the elite.
The young go to battle with hope in their eyes,
Believing the stories, believing the lies.
While those pulling strings from their towers of gold,
Sleep soundly at night while the world grows cold.
Fields once of flowers are scarred into red,
The earth remembers the tears that were shed.
No victory song can drown out the cost,
For in every war, it’s the living who’ve lost.
So lay down the banners, and silence the drums,
Let wisdom awaken, let compassion come.
For no throne or border, no treasure or creed,
Is worth all the blood spilled for power and greed.
“None Can Compare”
(Poem by Michael “Bull” Roberts)
Zeus on his mountain, lightning in hand,
Odin in Asgard ruling the land.
Ra in the desert where the sun burns high,
Kali and Vishnu beneath the sky.
So many names, so many thrones,
Statues and temples carved in stone.
But time will fade, and truth will stand
Only one breath gave life to man.
Anubis guards where the shadows tread,
Thor swings his hammer, the tales are spread.
Athena’s wisdom, Mars in war,
Buddha seeks peace yet searching for more.
None command the dawn or flame,
None can whisper each soul by name.
For He who was, and is, and shall be,
Formed all things, both land and sea.
The Alpha and Omega the first, the last,
Whose Word endures when the ages pass.
Mount Olympus trembles, Valhalla bows,
The temples grow silent every knee now.
The stars bear witness, the heavens declare,
The voice of creation cries “None compare!”
No idol of gold, no story of old,
No myth or legend breaks His hold.
He spoke the stars, He called the seas,
He reigns through all eternity.
The Maker of mercy, the Giver of love,
The Father above, whose throne’s above.
All gods may fade, all kingdoms fall,
But His light outshines them all.
From dust to dawn, from earth to air
There is but One and none compare.
“How God Sees Me” MBR
They smiled in my face, called me brother, called me friend,
But whispers behind me brought that bond to an end.
The truth came crawling through cracks in the light,
And I saw their shadows in the silence of night.
They spoke my name like it carried no weight,
Told their stories, let rumor create.
I gave them my heart, they gave me their blade,
Now I walk alone through the trust they betrayed.
But even in pain, when my tears start to fall,
I hear His voice still gentle, still calling through it all.
“My child, don’t believe what their eyes choose to see,
For I see your heart, I know who you’ll be.”
They see your past, I see your grace,
They see the flaws, I see your faith.
They see the stumble, I see you rise,
They see the ground I see the skies.
They see the struggle, I see the fight,
They see the dark I see the light.
They see the scars, but I see the art,
The way My love lives inside your heart.
So let them walk, let them speak, let them go,
For truth stands tall where false hearts grow low.
Their eyes may judge, their words may condemn,
But I, your God I see beyond them.
For where they see failure, I see your flame,
Where they see shame, I whisper your name.
And when you’re broken, and think you’re unseen,
Remember, My child I see what you mean
"No Sleep, No Peace" MBR
I don’t sleep no more, I don’t dream no more,
Haunted by the battles and the brothers I deplore.
Memories hit me, ghosts in my mind,
Faces of the fallen I can’t leave behind.
Daily I struggle, daily I fight,
Searching for solace in the dead of night.
Temptation whispers of the life I knew,
Fast cash, wild thrills, a reckless view.
But I see my reflection from the days I ran,
The old me lost in a hollow plan.
That life was empty, it wasn’t me,
Chains of greed, blind to what’s free.
Now I’m blessed with a roof, a meal, a bed,
By grace of God, my soul is fed.
Though pain lingers, and nightmares stay,
I walk the path, I don’t fade away.
I fight the fight, I hold the line,
Carry the torch for those left behind.
If my scars shine, if my story speaks,
Then hope returns to the lost and weak.
So I rise each day, though the struggle’s real,
With faith in God, my wounds will heal.
No sleep, no peace, yet I endure,
Because through the dark, His light is pure
“The Outlaw’s Gospel”
by Michael “Bull” Roberts
I tried to be relevant in a Christian crowd,
But my voice was soft, and their rules were loud.
They quoted verses, polished and proud
Yet I found my truth in the lost and the bowed.
With addicts and inmates, the broken and bruised,
Among the homeless, the ones the church refused,
I found my place, my soul was loosed
For there, God’s mercy ran like news.
Jesus walked where religion would not,
Among thieves and sinners, He never forgot,
They shut Him out, said His ways were flawed
But He was most at home with those far from God.
Many preach sermons, clean and bright,
But Christ chose outlaws to carry His light.
They say, “God can use anyone,”it’s true,
Yet doubt when He starts to speak through you.
They’ll believe a bush that burned with flame,
A donkey that spoke in His holy name,
But stumble hard when grace takes aim
At a soul once lost, now never the same.
You can hear the Word from a suit and tie,
Or from a tear in a convict’s eye,
But until you’ve heard redemption cry
From the outlaw who lived it, bled it, survived...
You’ve never heard the message true and alive
“Dirty Hands” MBR
I walk through smoke, through oil and rain,
Through city grime and working pain.
They talk of change in fancy halls,
But I’m the one who breaks the walls.
The suits stay clean while the streets still bleed,
But I dig deep where the people need.
You can’t build hope with spotless shoes
You earn the right by the dirt you choose.
I wear the stains of the lives I lift,
Each scar and callus a holy gift.
For every tear that’s hit the ground,
I’ve swung my hammer, stood my ground.
Change ain’t neat, it’s blood and rust,
It’s faith and fight, it’s grit and trust.
You don’t cleanse the world with words alone,
You clean it with your flesh and bone.
So let them mock the dirt I wear,
They’ll never know the weight I bear.
For when the dust has cleared the stage,
The ones who sweat will write the page
“The Forgotten Price” MBR
There was a time when freedom’s flame
Was kindled not by choice or fame,
But by the call cold, clear, and near,
That said stand strong, the fight is here.
Men and women, young yet old,
Carried courage more than gold.
They marched through storms, through ash and rain,
And paid the cost in blood and pain.
Their names once echoed through the land,
With flags and tears, and solemn stands.
But time moves on the crowds grow thin,
The world forgets where wars begin.
They sit alone, those few who know,
The weight of peace, the scars that show.
Their hearts still guard the silent fight,
That bought the dawn from endless night.
Freedom it was never free,
It came through pain and memory.
And though the world forgets their song,
Their sacrifice still carries on.
So when you walk on streets unscarred,
Or rest beneath your peaceful yard
Remember this: the life you lead
Was bought by those who dared to bleed.
They stood when standing wasn’t choice,
They fell unheard, without a voice.
Yet through their spirit, strong and true,
The gift of freedom lives in you
“Message from an O.G.”
You think it’s cool to wear your pants low,
To flash a sign so the world will know.
You think the guns, the gold, the fame,
Will shield you from the fire, the blame.
You think the cars and the jewels you see,
Will buy you power, will set you free.
But I tell you now, I’ve walked that road,
And every step just cracked my soul.
I was an O.G., I ruled my block,
My fists were law, my heart was rock.
Decades deep in the hustle and grime,
Watched too many brothers run out of time.
I saw the light fade from young men’s eyes,
Heard mothers wail, and angels cry.
All that pride that kept me strong,
Was really just chains I wore too long.
Then one dark night when death came near,
I fell to my knees and faced my fear.
I said, “God, if You’re real, don’t leave me this way,
Show me love just once before I fade.”
And in that moment, my cold heart burned,
The hate, the pain, they all got turned.
He said, “You’ll be like Paul, now go and speak,
Lift the lost, and heal the weak.”
Now I live not by the street,
But by the Word beneath my feet.
The blood and tears I shed before,
Are lessons now, I fight no more.
So to every young soldier chasing clout,
Listen close, that life runs out.
It ends in chains, in graves, in cells,
I’ve seen that movie, it never ends well.
Pick up your cross, not your gun,
Fight the good fight till the battle’s won.
Be strong in love, be true, be wise,
And let God open up your eyes.
The streets took much, but grace gave more,
Now I’m free like I’ve never been before.
So if you’re lost ,let this O.G. say,
There’s a better life, there’s a better way.
Kiskukwani Love of the Land...MBR
Hello, Creator, hear our prayer,
For sacred land beyond compare.
The forests whisper, rivers sing,
Your spirit moves through everything.
Mi’kma’ki, homeland of the dawn,
Where ancient stories linger on.
Your breath flows through each hill and tree,
Your heartbeat dances inside of me.
We walk the path our Elders made,
Through lessons learned and wisdom laid.
Their voices guide when shadows fall,
Their words still echo through us all.
We honor those who came before,
Whose hands shaped earth, whose spirits soar.
Their strength remains within our stride,
Their stories live, they do not hide.
The teachings rain like gentle streams,
Awakening our hearts and dreams.
From ancestors’ fire to children’s eyes,
The sacred flame will never die.
Creator, we give thanks and praise,
For all Your love, through all our days.
For sky and stone, for sea and tree,
For life, for land, for all we see.
So hear our hearts, receive our song,
Your gifts are endless, pure, and strong.
Wela’lin, thank you, ever true,
For this home, this life, this view.
“How Long Can I Hold On” MBR
How long can I hold on, Lord,
While the weight keeps pressing down?
The rent climbs like a mountain high,
And I’m sinking beneath this town.
Two thousand just for shelter now,
Where once four hundred stood,
And I fight each day for every meal
Just to eat feels good.
The cost of living’s gone insane,
The dream turned into debt,
You thank God for bread and tea,
That’s the best some days you get.
You thought by now there’d be some peace,
A little rest, a little grace,
But greed took root in higher halls,
And left the poor displaced.
No home to move to, nowhere cheap,
The province holds you tight,
You’d flee back east to heal your soul,
But you’ve got bills each night.
The business barely keeps you whole,
No savings left to store,
Just chasing down the month’s rent due,
And praying you earn more.
No partner’s hand, no family close,
Just echoes through the walls,
But you’ve been blessed to make it here,
Though hardship sometimes calls.
So you write your poems, your children’s tales,
You craft your songs with care,
And maybe one will light a spark
And lift you from despair.
For hope’s still found in simple things,
A sandwich, a cup of tea,
A whispered prayer, a steady hand,
That’s where faith still speaks to me.
So I’ll trust that God still has a plan,
Though the road feels rough and long,
I’ll hold the line, keep moving on,
And write my pain to song.
How Do You Say “I Love You”? MBR
How do you say I love you
Is it whispered soft and low,
Or found in little gestures
That only hearts can know?
Is it written in the letters
That your trembling hand once penned,
Or shown when you stay beside them
Right through to the bitter end?
Do you say it with a promise,
Or with silence when they cry,
When you wipe away their sorrows
And never ask them why?
Is it spoken in a glance,
Across a crowded room,
Where no one else can hear it,
But both your hearts assume?
Do you cook their favorite dinner,
Though your day’s been long and rough,
Because love is not in talking
It’s in doing just enough.
Maybe love’s not just a sentence,
Or a phrase we overuse,
Maybe it’s the quiet moments
When there’s nothing left to prove.
So how do you say I love you?
With words, or with your deeds?
The truth is love’s a language
That the faithful heart just breathes.
