For a moment, everything went silent. That beanie. The beanie his late father had given him on his deathbed. The last gift he'd ever received from the man who taught him that being strong didn't mean you never got hurt. Cole could take the punches. He'd taken worse. But this? His opponent had just made a terrible mistake. Cole turned slowly. His eyes burned red with rage as he stared at the koala standing across from him. The crowd erupted, but he barely heard them. His gaze drifted to the beanie lying on the floor. He remembered his father's final words. “Whatever life throws at you, son, don't let it turn you into someone you aren't.” Cole clenched his fists. Then he charged. Punch after punch landed with a force his opponent hadn't seen coming. Cole fought like a koala who had finally run out of reasons to hold back. His opponent stumbled, tried to regain his footing, and fell flat on the canvas. Knockout. The crowd went wild. But Cole didn't raise his hands in celebration. He walked over to his beanie, picked it up gently, brushed off the dust, and pressed it against his chest. He hadn't become a boxer because he loved fighting.
