No one talks about this in cybersecurity engineering, but every detection rule, workflow automation, or security control you add needs to be:
- Tested for precision/accuracy and false positives
- Maintained as threats evolve
- Reviewed to prevent unnecessary noise
- Documented for future analysts
- Monitored to ensure effectiveness and track drift
Every new security control increases operational overhead.
Be intentional. More isn’t always better.
