This week, I was endorsed by @RobertJPeters and stood with public safety advocates and harm survivors as we released our Plan for a Safer Chicago. It’s time for a new approach to addressing crime and trauma in Chicago — one rooted in investment and lifting our communities.

urgent message from @jamiekalven: Chicago City Council, DO NOT APPROVE the Green v Chicago settlement this week. the $500k settlement would allow the City to buy its way out of releasing 175,000 police misconduct stories. 🗣 RT to signal boost 🙏🏽 chicagotribune.com/opinion/c…

Commentary: A proposed settlement would broadside police accountability. That should never happen.

I was in the City Council chamber on April 13, 2015, when former Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s corporation counsel, Steve Patton, presented to the Finance Committee the city’s proposed settlement with Laquan...

Chicago Public Schools decided last night to pause their meal pickup program bc of protests; lots of families will be hungry today as a result. Build Coffee & Experimental Station are local orgs distributing free boxes of fresh food to neighbors. Help them do that by donating $$!

CPS is already forcing children living in areas of extreme unrest and trauma into remote learning tomorrow. Now it’s cutting off their access to food.
Nader Issa@NaderDIssa1 Jun 2020
NEW: Chicago Public Schools has suspended its meal distribution program "based on the evolving nature of activity across the city." The district has given out more than 12.5 million meals since start of the coronavirus pandemic. Remote learning continues, though. Story tk.
