Strengthening existing housing prior to an earthquake can prevent such displacement. The main barriers to retrofitting housing at scale are not technical, they are access to financing and political will. Join us @BuildChange as we expand retrofitting programs globally.
7.7 million people were living in internal displacement globally as a result of disasters at the end of 2023.
Earthquakes triggered 6.1 million displacements, the highest figure since 2008.
