I had such a terrible time w/ this one that I've decided to watch Ken Russell's 1968 biographical film on Frederick Delius.
Kind of feels like KG weenies have been arguing in the CHEYENNE AUTUMN comments for an eternity, but it's been, like, two days.

It’s Plague Season for your boy!
(I think I’m gonna read Defoe’s JOURNAL OF A PLAGUE YEAR, Camus’s THE PLAGUE, and finally Orhan Pamuk’s NIGHTS OF PLAGUE back to back)
Criterion saw my praise for Boorman's THE HERETIC and decided to reward me last minute w/ DELIVERANCE in Dolby Vision.

Ah, yes, it wouldn’t be a Harold Bloom essay without a sweeping dig at critical theory.
this Krohn piece on CRUISING is such a masterpiece, jfc—probably the best thing ever written on the film.
seeing on here that Bill Krohn died — want to recirculate his great 2004 Rouge piece on CRUISING, which integrates original research, auteurist critique, and narratology and is the best thing i've ever read about this endlessly fascinating film
