Canada should be, pound for pound, the greatest country on Earth. We have the resources, the talent, the opportunity, and the potential. But loving your country doesn't mean pretending everything is fine. There is no greater act of patriotism than being willing to confront what's going wrong because you believe your country is worth fighting for. Mira Metter said: "As a mother, I find myself asking questions I never imagined I'd have to ask. Is this still the best place to raise my children? Will they be safe? Will they have the same opportunities we had? Will they be able to build a good life here? Because the Canada they're inheriting feels very different from the Canada I grew up in." And that should concern all of us. This isn't about talking Canada down. It's about refusing to accept decline as inevitable. We should be having honest conversations about the problems we face, challenging the decisions that brought us here, and finding a better path forward. Patriotism isn't blind loyalty to the status quo. It's caring enough about your country to demand better. Our children deserve a Canada with a future as extraordinary as its potential.
