🇵🇸 Dr. Marwan al-Hams, director of Gaza's field hospitals, suffered fractures after being restrained and beaten in front of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir at Ganot prison on Oct. 7, according to Gaza's Health Ministry and the Prisoners' Media Office. The ministry said al-Hams was restrained, dragged and severely beaten under Ben Gvir's "direct supervision," leaving him with fractures and acute back pain. The Prisoners' Media Office called it the "harshest treatment recorded against Gaza detainees" and said he needs urgent medical care. Al-Hams, also a Health Ministry spokesperson, was seized by armed men in civilian clothes in al-Mawasi on July 21, 2025, according to the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights. He was shot in the leg and taken. Photojournalist Tamer al-Za'anin, who was filming him for a documentary, was killed in the attack. Israel has not commented.
