I pray that @wvgovernor gives me and the other student-athletes in the State of West Virginia what we finally deserve. All we’re asking for is a fair chance to finish what we started. We’re proud to represent the state of West Virginia, and we hope our state will stand behind us.
Governor Dewine of Ohio signed an executive order yesterday giving all class of 2022 athletes in the state of Ohio a fifth year of eligibility. His order prohibits Ohio colleges from enforcing the unfair and arbitrarily enforced NCAA eligibility restrictions.
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has signed an executive order allowing Class of 2022 college athletes at Ohio universities to compete in the 2026-27 academic year, even if they've exhausted their NCAA eligibility.
The order opens up a 5th season of eligibility for athletes. It prohibits Ohio colleges from enforcing NCAA eligibility restrictions

Happy for these athletes! I am glad they get another year to do what they love and have time to find another school they can call “home” if need be.

Another state court lawsuit challenging the NCAA’s decision to not grandfather in four year class of 2026 college athletes to the new age based eligibility rule was filed yesterday by 12 Marshall athletes.
They each claim they have a roster spot waiting at Marshall.

Myself and everyone on this list would love nothing more than to receive the same opportunity that those before us received (JUCO and Covid) as well as the others after us (5 for 5 Rule). Let’s make this happen!

1/ MLB Draft Truth: Why Most Late-Round Pitchers Who Make It Are Command Guys, Not Pure Stuff Monsters
After digging into the 2019 (full 40-round) and 2020 (5-round COVID draft) classes, the pattern is crystal clear. Pitchers drafted after Round 3 who actually reached MLB were overwhelmingly “command/pitchability” types — or guys with a solid command floor + development upside. Not the classic high-velocity, low-command boom-or-bust arms.
Here’s the steelmanned case with real examples. ⚾

Greg Maddux explains how velocity gets you drafted, but movement and command keep you around. An unreal listen from one of the best ever.

Firm Believer in this!
Chase Burns: "I maybe didn't have the swing and miss stuff that I wanted, but I was dialing in and hitting spots."
"(Trevino) told me (this) today. Every time I threw a slider, I felt like I didn't get it down enough. He said, don't be mad because you're getting outs. I'm trying to go out there and put zeros on the board. That's the game."

Bryce Blevins is an absolute DAWG!
Herd lefty strikes out two batters in the 9th & finishes with 7Ks on the night to secure a key road win at South Alabama.
That’s Blevins’ 3rd straight appearance of 8+ innings - all wins. @d1baseball

My apologies - the website career stat line for Bryce is wrong - and tonight was career win No. 19, so he’s one away from Chase Boster’s career record of 20 wins.

Blessed to be a part of such a special community! Marshall is a special place! Go Herd!
I walked in to the @HerdBaseball game about a half inning late today. Marshall was at bat in the bottom of the first. Two young boys were going in with a lady. As they were running up the hill to see down to the field they heard the announcer say that @coophinson was coming to the plate. They immediately cheered real loud and told the lady “we got here at the perfect time, we get to see Coop hit. Let’s go Coop!!!!!!” Just an awesome moment. Makes you love what these players like Cooper and @wyattfricks2 and @tpayner05 and @jalenslappy and @MaierMeredith and @peyton_ilderton and @DiamondLeslie31 and @SydniBurko and @BryceBlevins just to name a few, bring to our programs and our community. They are cultivating personal legacies that will last a lifetime!! Forever sons and daughters of Marshall!! I know I have left some off here. I apologize but I think you know it wasn’t done on purpose!!
