My wife catches this tram all the time. She isn't political at all and just can't understand how this keeps happening. Most people can accept some level of random acts of violence - but they can't understand why so much of it is perpetrated by people out on bail. And they shouldn't have to - it's totally unacceptable and a sign of systemic failure. Add to this the crime spree ending on the Monash freeway on the same day with 6 people arrested - 2 of whom were out on bail. We can't rebuild this state economically and socially as long as crime is out of control. Whichever party has the best crime policy deserves to win the Victorian state election. And given Labor's responsible for where it is today, this means they're automatically disqualified from consideration in my view. We just can't allow such insane policy and negligent management of public safety ever again.
