After years of research, it's finally released!
The World Cybercrime Index, (@federico_varese @ridhikash07 @nphair Jonathan Lusthaus & me) offers a global metric of cybercriminality & a map of the most significant cybercrime hotspots worldwide.
Paper: doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone…
🌐🔍 NEW: The first ever World Cybercrime Index identifies the globe’s key cybercrime hotspots.
The Index shows that a small number of countries house the greatest cybercrime threat. Russia leads, followed by Ukraine, China, USA, Nigeria & Romania ⬇️

Come and work with me!
Lovely to be on @SOEPTech and talk about the WCI - @GarethM had great questions that really got at the whole point of the research (& that no one else has asked yet).
Even if cybercrime isn't your thing, I can *highly* recommend their ep on submarine cables.
Where are the #cybercriminals hiding? The new World #cybercrime Index can tell you and its main author @Brucem__ is on @SOEPTech with @GarethM and

Yesterday I ran the Hidden Populations Workshop at @SociologyOxford and it was a blast! (programme & CFP lower in the🧵!)
We got a bunch of #socialscience experts in #hiddenpopulations, shared our works-in-progress, and discussed major questions in hiddenpop research like:

Yesterday our CRIMGOV team member @MindeBruce held an extremely interesting workshop hosted @SociologyOxford discussing the issue of Hidden Populations within research.
Here’s the programme! We decided to keep the event strictly closed & in-person, so that presentations with incomplete projects&data didn’t have to worry about impartial results being shared too early.
But in the meantime you can follow some of the presenters:
