What are we going through? Could you please spare just two minutes to read this post? I am under extreme stress and wanted to speak honestly with our X family. TAWF was started in 2020, when I began by spending all my savings, my business income, and even my jewellery on it. I carried it for more than a year until my family and our great supporters joined hands with me. Our amazing followers and supporters know that earlier this year we were forced to vacate our shelter from the rented premises because the lease was ending in December 2025. After years of struggle and efforts, we had secured permanent land in 2024 for the sanctuary and started building it, but it was a great challenge for a small charity to build such a huge project in such a short time. Our supporters, trustees, and my family contributed their maximum, but the target was too big. Although our funding target was not met for the construction of the sanctuary, in February 2026 we moved to the new sanctuary with only partial buildings completed. A lot of work was still left, but we had no choice other than taking this hard decision. After that, our real struggle to run the sanctuary seriously started. This is only the second time since we started TAWF that we are facing such a serious financial gap. As I mentioned earlier, our supporters, trustees, and my family gave their maximum support while the sanctuary was under construction, but now their support towards the running expenses has reached the minimum. This situation has led to serious financial constraints. Our social media posts and appeals are not getting enough reach, which means we are not reaching new supporters or receiving enough further support. We are now at the stage where we are unable to pay the bills for animal feed, medicines, other supplies, and staff salaries. The worst situation is the persistent dog culling practices by the authorities, which are wasting our TNVR efforts that we made over the years by sterilising and vaccinating thousands of dogs. Because of the culling, we are providing long-term sanctuary to more animals for their safety, and this has increased our expenses a lot. Our daily running expense is around £330–£350 a day, which is not impossible if 350 amazing supporters donate just £1 daily. But the reality is that some days we receive only £10, or some days £50 or £100. We are standing at the point where we may have to return animals whose only hope is our sanctuary. On the other hand, many people think we are a big charity, receiving millions in grants and donations, and that is why they do not support us. But the reality is that we are a small charity, mainly relying on public donations, and we always put ourselves in struggle to make more out of these donations. As a registered charity, our independent audited financial reports are available on our website and they show the real picture. Our administration expenses have always remained under 10%, because we only spend on administration that is directly linked to the rescues. To make sure donations are spent directly on the animals, the maximum admin work is done by the trustees.
