Conversion therapy is an abusive practice. A comprehensive ban protects ALL LGBTQ+ people.
As a gay man, I’m ashamed of other LGB people who oppose this ban, putting the torture of young trans people ahead of the safety and wellbeing of our entire community.

Right-wing campaigners just spent $4 million sending this fake pro-trans pamphlet to hundreds of thousands of Texas Republicans. It’s an unprecedented attack against trans kids. Legitimate brochures obviously wouldn’t have emancipation info, but the recipients don’t realize that.

while it's obvious this is a republican op, i think it's just sad in general that "trans kids deserve support and shouldn't have to suffer abuse from their bigoted parents" is such a controversial message that even liberals come out and say "uhhhh no we don't agree with that!"

The "Texas Transgender Student Union" that sent out mailers, which have become a major controversy among Republicans, is a real organization — but it was only formed in September in Wyoming as an LLC and is entirely separate from TENT, the organization marketed in the fliers.
