On September 15, 2019, Alicia Navarro, 14, snuck out of her home, leaving a note, swearing to her parents she would be back. Alicia has not been seen since.
The Kanehsatà:ke Resistance (oka crisis) is a stand off in the summer of 1990 between the Mohawk people of Oka Quebec and the province of Quebec, after some shitty developers wanted to put a golf course parking lot over the burial ground of the Mohawk people. #canadafacts
Mohawk women armed with drums and singing were met with police and militaryforces to combat them for the land. The project was cancelled after a 78 day stand off and the government of Canada purchased the land in question but never returned it to the Mohawk people. #CanadaDay
A Starlight tour is when an often intoxicated Indigenous man is taken outside the city (by the RCMP) in sub-zero temperatures and left there (to die) #CanadaDay #canadafacts
From 1980 to 2012, Indigenous women represented 16% of all female homicides in Canada while being only 4% of the female population in Canada. #CanadaDay #canadafacts
