In 2005 I wrote a novel about an AI that grows beyond anyone’s control. It was fiction then. It doesn’t feel like fiction now. I’ve wanted to make it into a film ever since. With today’s AI tools, I'm finally making it on my own, as a passion project. This is the trailer. I’d love to talk about the threat, and what we do about it.

Before I get too far into this film, I’d like your help with the main cast. First up: Quinton. He’s an antivirus analyst at First Bit, the first person to spot the virus that becomes Minerva, and the last one anyone believes. Over a few days he goes from the guy nobody listens to, to the one people end up following. I based his look on myself, from a headshot of a younger me. Could you see him as your hero?

I have huge problems with this "SAFETY" bill proposal. With the rapid spread of locally run models, I don't believe it is possible for the govt. to prevent the release of dangerous ones (after the fact). What do you think? Do you share my concerns? AI is not containable in this kind of way imho. We need a solution that will work. I have some good ideas, but want to hear your thoughts!
