The midterm elections are two weeks from today. For the next two months I pledge, when discussing politics, to focus on the qualities and policies of the Democratic candidates on the ballot this fall who I want to win, and the specific flaws of their Republican opponents. I pledge to not get distracted by squirrels, twitch streamers, shiny objects, butthurt candidates who lost in the primary, whatever the news media tries to deflect towards, whatever the Twitter algorithm tries to throw in my face, whatever Trump tries to wag the dog with, or anything else other than the qualities and policies of the Democratic candidates on the ballot this fall to help them defeat their Republican opponents. If anyone sees me deviate from this when discussing politics on this site from this point forward over the next two months, please call me out.

There is no better example I can think of how Trump isn’t a steward of America or remotely patriotic or even nationalistic. He is simply a partisan of his own ego. This is just gross. He’s trying to suck up to a dictator and adversary by mocking another American president. And, btw, the anonymous functionary running this account will be remembered as a tiny little throne-sniffing weasel.

you know what's great about texas? sunshine. water. and this incredible invention called air conditioning.
you know what actually sucks? the cold. waking up to gray skies for months on end. shoveling snow. scraping ice off your windshield. putting on 5,000 layers just to walk outside and still feeling like your fingers are going to fall off.
i would rather sweat my ass off walking to my air-conditioned car than spend half the year freezing and miserable.
and with all the money you're saving on state income taxes, you can afford to take a vacation somewhere cooler when you need a break.
