I said no such thing, Benny. As a matter of fact, you're rather like a.... How shall I put this... Free agent? Free agent, yes. And just look at this lovely pendant I've got you.
Back to the ‘I collected you’ mindset? My . . . it really must be my birthday 😒

"Are you sure that ( you ) don't need to use this pipe, professor Summerfield?" Brax looked at her with a touch of bemusement, as always, offering it to her. "It's terribly important. The relative stability of at least two or three galaxies relies upon finding a goldfish."
⠀⠀ “An artifact, you dolt! Something that has anything to do with my job, with my profession!” she snarled before, too, composing herself with a deep inhale. ⠀⠀ “I’m not helping you find some stupid goldfish.”

Not everything that I say and do is about some grand master plan. Sometimes I simply enjoy things.

He made a uniquely alien noise, like the reverse of a hoover through a grate, but he said nothing of it. The Time Lord attempted to compose himself, shuffling on his seat. "Oh, but Benny, I've already told you," Braxiatel said. "I'm looking for a goldfish."
⠀⠀ “Has anyone ever told you how painfully unfunny you can be?” she quipped back as she rose from her chair reluctantly, tossing him the little steel case. A momentary smile crossed her features when she watched the ornate case hit him smack dab in the middle of his chest. »»

" are you bored, benny ? is that why you're here ? you could at least be helpful and fetch me my tobacco case. i don't particularly fancy getting up. " he frowned, shaking his pipe a little. " i could find you something useful to do, if you'd like. spring cleaning, perhaps. "
Eyes cut daggers in the other’s direction, still not entirely amused as she snatched the paper back. Lounging in the chair, she scanned the print with keen eyes. ⠀⠀ “Another lengthy article about—— Boring.” The newspaper was then tossed back onto his desk with little care.

" yes. i'm looking for a goldfish. " silence. " goodness. professor rubeish, dead at 463. i hadn't realised that he'd been retired so long. " but he made his point and had his fun. slowly, making a point of it, he closed his paper, resting it on the armchair for her to pick up.
⠀⠀ “Your article?” the woman asked, letting out a sharp ‘hey!’ when he snatched it back. A newfound glare took hold of her dark eyes. ⠀⠀ “There’s one on me, I’d like to actually read it, not skim, thanks.”

braxiatel tersely retrieved the paper, his brows daring her to risk it a second time. then the stream of smoke pouring out from behind the broadsheet. there was a rather fascinating article on caxtaridian economics. "oh, good," his voice smiled. "they've printed my article."
⠀⠀ “Begging’s unattractive,” she mumbled with little context given. No, no. She’s too busy reading now. Oh! She’s been mentioned! Blah, blah; amazing Archeologist Professor Bernice Summerfield, yadda, yadda . . .

Don’t mind her, she just suddenly 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 wanted to read that. Must be why she snatched it as she did.

"It does, doesn't it?" Her eyes lit up. She adored her father so sounding like him was a great compliment. "Besides, Bee just has a lot of..." She was about to say 'daddy issues,' but that was probably rude. "Issues."

“What is this, Castellan?” “A painting, sir.” “Of?” “We don't know, sir. The title doesn't name her, it's just one word. 'Safe.' That's not the point. The point is, sir, she's not a painting. She's suspended.” “Suspended? You mean like—?” “Like Gallifrey, yes, sir. Like us.”

if it moved him, he did not show it beyond his sneer. she was hardly a stranger; she was something worse to him, beyond words. perhaps in the caged, pruned language (that braxiatel no doubt controlled, somehow, somewhere) of english, she was like an acquaintance. --
[Posie remains unflinching, her youthful expression hardening with contempt as the Cardinal berates her. Every word its own dagger, sinking into her without a shred of remorse. Feminine rage, barely restrained — hot tears burn the corner of her eyes and before she can manage —
