After 9 wins in a row we take a loss.
Croden dominated the first round, only to fall into a submission trap with less than ten seconds left, the one thing I warned she needed to avoid.
Croden/Blanchfield MLP (2U) 🇨🇦 🇺🇸
(Croden vs Chandler)
Croden will have a 0.5 inch reach edge.
In this women's bantamweight bout, we have 5 year UFC veteran Chelsea Chandler taking on Melissa Croden, a rising Canadian prospect who is 2-1 since joining the UFC last year. With this fight we know what we are getting from Chandler… she is 3-3 in the UFC and has consistently lost when facing women that belong inside the rankings while exposing those who do not. So the question here is whether Croden is a legitimate fighter, and I think the answer is yes. She is extremely big for this weight class, has a well versed skillset and has already been sharpened by some high level competition.
Stylistically, on the feet Croden has the clear edge. She typically throws more volume, has more power, more pressure, and more stamina, which I think will weigh Chandler down as the fight progresses. On the ground it is a tighter contest. I think Croden is the better wrestler and will be able to find takedowns if she would like to mix them in, but Chandler has some grappling prowess, which will be the one thing Croden has to watch out for, but all in all this is a favorable matchup.
(Blanchfield vs Jasudavicius)
Jasudavicius will have a 2 inch reach edge.
In this women's co-main event we have a high level contender bout in the flyweight division between Erin Blanchfield and Jasmine Jasudavicius. Ultimately, to me Erin has the better resume. She has proven the ability to beat or at least belong on the same stage as true contenders in each of her last 5 fights, while Jasmine has always looked good versus those she is supposed to beat and struggled with the elites.
Stylistically, this is a grappler versus grappler matchup and I expect Erin to win that iron on iron battle. She is widely seen as one of if not the single best wrestler and grappler on the women's roster. As for Jasmine, she is very good herself but not to that extent in my opinion, plus Erin is 10 years younger in her prime at 27 while Jasmine is now 37 and rounding on 38.
As for the feet, I would give Erin a slight edge there too if anything. She is nothing prolific but I just think her volume is higher, her footwork is better, her fight IQ is higher, and her cardio is better.
Ultimately, I see a lot of Canadians having success at home tonight but I don’t think this will be one of those fights.
