Urbana Middle is the latest FCPS school to earn Maryland Blue Ribbon Schools status!
One of 12 Maryland public schools recognized for the 2026–27 school year, Urbana Middle is also one of just two public middle schools statewide to receive the honor!
The recognition celebrates student achievement and schools’ efforts to close performance gaps. Urbana Middle is the 18th FCPS school to earn Maryland or National Blue Ribbon status.
Congratulations to the students, staff, and families whose hard work made this achievement possible! 👏👏👏
And @FCPSMaryland has its first two-time girls flag county championship: Urbana High! State playoffs are next!!

We very much had @DollyParton and her generous spirit in mind with our School Supplies Fairy who distributed supplies to students who need them via the @UnitedWayFred Stuff the Bus.
Dolly was the inspiration behind the character -- note the wig.
Yesterday, we collected so many school supplies from local businesses and organizations as part of the @UnitedWayFred Stuff the Bus campaign! Stay tuned to see more of Doodleblossum the School Supply Fairy!

As students across Frederick County head back to school today, we want to recognize the incredible role FCPS plays in Stuff the Bus.
The behind-the-scenes planning from their team is what makes it possible for thousands of students to start the school year prepared & confident.

⭐️ New This Year: Military Families' Resource Center Webpage ⭐️
FCPS is proud to serve approximately 750 military-connected children and their families, primarily from U.S. Army Fort Detrick. FCPS recognizes the challenges these families face due to frequent relocations. New this year is the Military Families’ Resource Center, a webpage with content supporting students with family members who serve this country: fcps.org/families_students/m…
FCPS is so proud to be the home of two Maryland Purple Star Schools: Whittier Elementary and West Frederick Middle. This prestigious recognition program honors schools that go above and beyond to support military-connected students and their families.

Mary was a champion for all students, someone who I proctored exams with on Saturday mornings for more than a decade. Never missed an opportunity to help kids. She will be greatly missed.
Mary Jane Berlin, a longtime mathematics teacher whose passion for her work took her beyond the classroom to teach students confined to hospitals and their homes, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, of cancer at her home in Sykesville. She was 78. Genial and outgoing... bit.ly/4fJuAuW
