🤔 Why do some people recover from pain quickly while others develop chronic pain?
👉🏻 We have just launched a new episode of Physio Explained with Dr Rocco Cavaleri: Understanding the Complexities of Chronic Pain
😎 In this episode, @RoccoCavaleri explains:
• The differences between acute and chronic pain
• The role of the nervous system in chronic pain
• Practical clinical recommendations for managing patients with chronic pain

Cavaleri et al. find that widespread pain, reflecting central sensitization, is associated with lower peak alpha frequency when compared with localized pain in people with chronic pelvic pain syndrome. Learn more in #PainReports bit.ly/44BvT9Z

We had a great time discussing biomechanics and central nervous system factors that contribute to low back and shoulder pain at @APTAcsm. Thank you, @BiomechanicsSig, for the opportunity to share our work!

Peak alpha frequency is related to pain spread, but not intensity/ duration, in UCPPS - now published in @PainReportsOPEN ! Grateful to @jjkutch and the AMPL team for all the support during my @FulbrightAUS program.

@BrainStARLab et al. find that sustained hamstring pain induces enhanced proprioceptive processing and deficits in peripersonal spatial processing. This may hold significance for hamstring reinjury risk and rehabilitation strategies. Learn more in #PAIN bit.ly/4eDZocQ

Do differences in peak alpha frequency reflect diagnosis-specific mechanisms?🧠New publication in #EJPain with @mclain_nat and @jjkutch shows that PAF differs between chronic back and chronic widespread pain, with important implications for future work:

Our latest @PAINthejournal paper shows that hamstring pain ENHANCED proprioceptive processing but IMPAIRED peripersonal spatial processing. Interesting implications for reinjury risk and rehabilitation 🦿🧠

As a visiting post-doc at @CNAP_AAU, @DrNahianC did this exciting study💪. We show the analgesic effects of rTMS to the posterior superior insular in healthy subjects. Cortical inhibitory processes were involved in the analgesic effects (assessed by TMS evoked EEG responses). 👇
