"Dry weather sewage discharges soar as water companies face scrutiny."
"Exceptional weather", anyone?
When are we going to put an end to this farce, starting with Thames Water?

It is horribly ironic that many of the men who have rioted in the UK, under the banner of protecting women, are so often the men women need protection from.

Reminder the Water Companies haven't been building Water Treatment Plants, just like they don't build Reservoirs.
Now they simply dump your sewage straight into the water, but they still charge you treating it.
Even though they don't.

Half of England and all of Wales are in drought, while almost 3 BILLION litres of water are reportedly lost through leaks every day.
Before telling households to take shorter showers, fixing the pipes seems a fairly reasonable request.

Too busy giving their new finance director a £1,000,000 signing on bonus.
Water is still gushing late tonight from the leak at Church Road and Sheen Road. No website update from @thameswater - despite low pressure and even no water at all in nearby parts of Richmond.

The privatised water companies have to be renationalised - we have to stop them slowly poisoning us as they extract more profit and reward shareholders while the Government does nothing meaningful. It’s the very definition of insanity.
The vast majority of England's rivers, lakes and coastal waters are polluted by sewage - according to a new survey by the Environment Agency.
Its research found just 14% are in good ecological health - while not a single body of water is safe from toxic chemicals.
Campaigners said England's rivers were some of the filthiest in Europe - despite repeated Government promises to clean them up.

Since water services were sold off by Thatcher to be run for private profit, the water companies have:
- amassed debts of over £50bn
- paid £78bn to shareholders
- raised CEO pay to £1-3 million a year
- lose 2.87bn litres of water a day through leaky pipes
- polluted EVERY river

Guess what though?
Water profits will be record and Water investment will be ZERO.
Renationalise Water.

The death rate on British building sites 50 years ago was more than five times higher than it is today. But Richard Tice's call to scrap half a century's worth of health and safety regulations would mean higher profits for construction bosses, so there is that.

My father, like the Prime Minister’s, had Alzheimers and my family - my mother in particular - battled the adult social care system. Anyone who’s been through will understand how upsetting it is. One of the most shocking moments was when - on being discharged from hospital after breaking his hip as a result of vascular dementia, and because of his Alzheimer’s he would never walk again (an uber fit man) - the discharge manager openly debated in the discharge meeting in front of my mum (then in her 80s), the amount of time he had left to live, in an argument over whether his local authority or the NHS should fund his care.
Now my mum is 94 and the lack of care available from Surrey County Council last year meant after a fall and attending A&E, she ‘bed-blocked’ for a week after being medically discharged - one of thousands who are jamming up hospitals because there is no adequate care provision. When it was finally in place it was so poor she ended up with a UTI and sepsis. Admitted to hospital again, this time for 6 weeks - costing her personally and the NHS £££ thousands. Again, when she came out of hospital, the care was agency care and abysmal - delaying her recovery and at times putting her health at serious risk.
She is well again now, after a six month woeful experience of the gaps in our system. Politics and the state have failed our people by not addressing this. Like my leader, @EdwardJDavey I want to work with the PM, constructively to fix it. We’ve been calling for urgency on this for years. All power to Andy Burnham for prioritising it - now he and we must. And I’ll be holding him to account to fix it for good.
