I feel I’ve pretty much cracked the code for staying in shape & very healthy biomarkers year round without significant lifestyle changes/time commitment (unless completely sedentary):
- Lift 3-5 days a week, can do more but diminished time returns
- Some type of athletic hobby you do multiple days a week (just going to the driving range & walking around my yard chipping doubles my daily activity levels)
- Multiple daily walks (prefer sunset, sunrise, & short walks after meals for energy/digestion)
- At least 1 day a week on a longer walk/hike out in nature
- Moderate-high protein, balanced carbs & fats depending on glucose management, predominantly meat, fish, eggs, fruit, well-digested carbs, veggies, & dairy if you handle it well
Point 2, 3, & 4 are huge because it’ll allow much more flexibility in food intake, it’s close to an extra 1000 calories a day for myself.

Ultimate Golf Performance
What makes the best, better than you?
Achieving ultimate golf performance requires a multifaceted approach encompassing various aspects of training and lifestyle. Here's a number of things I emphasise as S&C consultant on @DPWorldTour & @Challenge_Tour here's a non exhaustive list of what I've noticed splits the best from the merely good.
Consistency plays a pivotal role, demanding regular practice and training routines to build muscle memory and refine skills. A steadfast commitment to a consistent play and practice schedule is crucial, fostering both physical and mental preparedness for the challenges on the golf course.
Diligence is the cornerstone of improvement, urging golfers to invest dedicated and focused effort in practice and training sessions. Attention to detail is paramount, enabling the refinement of techniques and the targeted addressing of weaknesses. This meticulous approach ensures a continuous progression towards peak performance.
Orthodox strength and conditioning form the basis of a robust physical foundation. By incorporating traditional and proven exercises, golfers can enhance their overall athletic performance. Fluff, balance exercises, long mobility routines, a lot of aimless rotation exercise aren't what you need. You probably need some fundamental strength work.
Jump impulse the focus is on cultivating explosive power, producing more force in less time. Loaded jumps take centre stage in this aspect, involving exercises like weighted jump squats and box jumps. These activities are designed to enhance the ability to generate force quickly, research shows its a key component in achieving powerful and long swings.
Total body strength is another critical facet, necessitating a comprehensive strength training program that addresses all major muscle groups. This holistic strength approach contributes to a well-rounded and resilient physical condition. Robustness is king here.
Monitoring ball volumes during practice sessions is a strategic measure to prevent overtraining. Sudden spikes in training volume can lead to increased risk of injury and fatigue. By carefully tracking the number of golf balls hit, golfers can strike a balance between practice intensity and recovery, optimizing their performance while minimizing the risk of burnout.
Proper sleep is a non-negotiable factor in the pursuit of ultimate golf performance. Adequate and quality sleep is essential for recovery, muscle repair, and overall well-being. Consistent sleep patterns contribute to heightened focus and mental acuity, providing a competitive edge on the golf course.
Engaging in activities away from golf is a holistic approach to well-rounded fitness. Cross-training activities contribute to overall physical conditioning, while recreational pursuits serve as a mental refreshment. This balanced lifestyle not only enhances performance but also guards against the risk of burnout, ensuring a sustained passion for the game.
And Finally...
Attaining ultimate golf performance extends beyond the physical and technical aspects; a positive mindset is a crucial factor that can significantly impact a golfer's success. Optimism serves as the final, intangible ingredient in this comprehensive approach.
Maintaining a positive outlook on one's abilities and the pursuit of improvement is essential. Golf, being a mentally demanding sport, requires resilience in the face of challenges. Optimism can provide the mental fortitude needed to navigate through rough patches, fostering a belief in continuous growth and development.
A positive mindset also plays a role in managing performance pressure during competitions. Confidence in one's skills and a hopeful perspective on the outcome contribute to a more composed and focused performance on the course. Visualization techniques and positive affirmations can be incorporated into training routines to reinforce this optimistic mindset.
Moreover, optimism extends to embracing the learning process. Recognizing that setbacks and failures are opportunities for growth can turn challenges into stepping stones towards improvement. This mindset encourages golfers to approach each practice session and competition with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn from both successes and setbacks.
In conclusion, as golfers strive for ultimate performance, cultivating optimism becomes an indispensable component. By integrating a positive mindset into their training regimen and overall approach to the game, golfers can enhance their mental resilience, boost confidence, and foster a sustainable passion for the sport. – at Chelmsford, East

Forgot to post this on here last week, one of my better posts if I do say so myself, really focusing on getting the most out of the gym & just how small the difference between just average & great results are.
Also announcing details on the new program.

It’s time for the LinksGems annual reminder that Sand Hollow Resort in Southern Utah is one of the best publicly-accessible places to play golf in the entire country, and is easily worth the 2 hour drive for golfers visiting Las Vegas.
The scenery here is incomparable…
