Are you using AAV to deliver genes to the nervous system? Good news / bad news. biorxiv.org/cgi/content/shor… First the bad news: we found AAV can shrink dendrites and disrupt synaptic transmission. The good news? We figured out why it happens, and can tell you how to avoid it. (1/n)

Hello, I'd like to invite you to do my laundry for me. If you accept, I ask that you do my laundry in the next 7 business days. If you decline, please give a reason, and recommend 2-3 colleagues who can do my laundry instead. No, of course there's no payment, what a crazy idea

Didn’t realize how yellow it is out until I got in the car and the screen looks super blue. It’s white. My color opponent cone system is yellow-fatigued.

Clever exploitation of an age cutoff for the shingles vaccine Zostavax. Intriguing that AD protection is only apparent in women. Shingles incidence is higher in women, but chicken pox is not. Is the (highly sex-divergent) immune response, not the virus, the relevant risk factor?
Biggest thing to ever come out of my little group. Pls help spread this finding! We found clean, CAUSAL evidence that the shingles vaccine prevents a good chunk of dementia cases. So, could a virus cause Alzheimer’s->YES! Hear me out & see preprint: bit.ly/3MVqXU9 🧵1/

The University turns off the air circulation to our offices at 6pm every day. The CO2 levels promptly climb, even with just one person in the office. What should I do, and why is the answer "Not work past 6?"

Like many neuro folks, mourning the loss of @shenoystanford. It’s impossible to communicate what a loss it is. Knowing Krishna was a lesson in what it means to have a positive impact on the world. (1/N)

He lifted everyone with his largeness of spirit. “Relationships matter, communications matter, teamwork matters. It’s too easy to get caught up in thinking that individual brilliance is really what’s going to change the world.” Krishna was a mensch in the truest sense. (3/N)

When I read, in When Breath Becomes Air, “I’d never met someone so successful who was also so committed to goodness. [He] was an actual paragon,” it was clear exactly who he meant. What a gift to have known Krishna, in all his kindness, brilliance, and wit. (N/N)
