Cornwall Botany for September at sylvatica2022.blogspot.com/ hope you like the selection of plants this month.
Marsh Yellow-cress was frequent in the draw down zone at Siblyback Lake, Cornwall today. Probably saw over 100 around the lake margins.

Rorippa palustris
Redshank was abundant in the draw down zone at Siblyback Lake Cornwall today. #wildflowerhour
Persicaria maculosa
Common Michaelmas Daisies naturalised in quantity at Siblyback Lake, Cornwall today. It was a big hit with the insects too. #wildflowerhour
Symphyotrichum x salignum
A close up of a flower that is only about 2mm across, the invasive New Zealand Pygmyweed at Siblyback Lake in Cornwall. Taken today for #wildflowerhour there's probably millions of plants there.
Crassula helmsii
Trifid Bur-marigold, a new record for it at the north end of Siblyback Lake in Cornwall today. It was also recorded for the first time in the southern half this year for the 1st time, so it appears to be spreading quickly. #wildflowerhour
Bidens tripartita
Very low water level at Siblyback Lake, Cornwall today. Lots of rain needed as the drought continues here.
Six-stamened Waterworts are tiny plants, so I was lucky to spot these in the draw down zone at Siblyback Lake, Cornwall today, now in seed.
Elatine hexandra
Devils bit Scabious and Narrow leaved Hawkweed from the Fal estuary today in Cornwall for #wildflowerhour
Succisa pratensis
Hieracium umbellatum
I found a Tall Nightshade (Solanum chenopodioides) in flower/fruit today at Portwrinkle, Cornwall. I'd found one nearby in 2025, so it's clearly self seeded. It looks like Black Nightshade on steroids and I think it might often be mis-recorded around the UK. Photos from 2025.
It's a very niche area of botany, but I spent my day searching for coastal Atriplex hybrids and found plenty. Both in the River Fowey south of Lostwithiel.
A nice find today of a young Marsh Yellow-cress from Tamar Lakes in Cornwall. Not recorded here since 1984.
Not flowering , probably won't until spring next year.
Rorippa palustris
Wild Carrot, Musk Storksbill, Russian Vine and Vervain Cornwall this week for #wildflowerhour
Goldenrod, Tall Rocket and Common Chickweed from Par Sands this week in Cornwall for #wildflowerhour
Common Evening Primrose, Wild Fennel, Sea Knotgrass and a white Japanese Rose from Par Sands this week in Cornwall for #wildflowerhour
Constantine dunes in Cornwall, a nice place to look for plants given the views, but the dunes are rather overrun with garden escape
Vervain on a sandy road verge in Constantine, Cornwall today. Given that there's easily over 100 plants it's surprising this is a first monad record for them here.
Verbena officinalis
A Russian Vine run amok (as usual) all along a sandy road verge in Constantine, Cornwall today.
Fallopia baldschuanica
