Pleased to say I have finished @The_CIEP's Copyediting 3, and with merit too!
Many, many thanks to my tutor, Sarah @pysk_kernewek, who's given such detailed and useful feedback that I could actually see myself become a better editor from one exercise to the next.
Got back from the hairdresser to find a present in my shoe (a Dutch holiday custom). 😍 My partner secretly ordered it for me after I'd pointed out it to him on holiday. And yes, we go to bookstores while on holiday. #booknerd
Also suffering from post-conference blues? Perhaps adorable little Goblin can help:

Anyone else have those post-conference conflicted feelings? On the one hand I'm exhausted and know I need rest, on the other I just want more. More talks, more networking and more chats with lovely colleagues.
At least there's a Cloud Club West social to look forward to!#ciep2022
Ha, did not expect to be watching a didgeridoo rap performance today! 😂 #ciep2022
Kitty has joined me again, this time for @MayaBerger's insightful session on editing sex scenes #ciep2022
"Who gets to be desirable?" Such a good thing to keep in mind! Inclusivity applies to intimacy too. #ciep2022
Replying to @MariekeGent
@MariekeGent is giving a presentation on reference tools and it's like I'm following a second session on efficient editing, but targeted to academic editors 😲😍 #ciep2022
Major benefit of attending online: you can have a yummy lunch whenever you want & learn about indexing at the same time.

I had to move back to my desk (from comfy chair) for Hester Higton's session because I needed 3 screens - almost felt like I was preparing for an actual edit! Learned so much about efficient editing and editing prep 😁

Purring kitty in my lap and learning about @SofiaBMatias's amazing conscious language style for @IntelligentEdit 😻

Ready for day two of #ciep2022. So looking forward to the talks and all the colleagues I'll meet ☺️
Things I learned at yesterday's Fiction SIG meeting for @The_CIEP members:
- there's a fine line between sci-fi and fantasy
- how to deal with invented stuff and made-up words
- There's a subway map of River Song's timeline
- most fiction editors love pasta
Thanks, @GeckoEdit!
Over the weekend I finished @The_CIEP's Intro to Fiction Editing course, which was amazingly useful. I'm looking forward to adding fiction editing to my services in the future!
As a treat to myself, I got to read A Very Sweary Dictionary, written by the wonderful @KiaThomasEdits
