With Boston experiencing severe heat emergencies over the last month, green infrastructure is more vital than ever in keeping us cool. Plants absorb heat from the air, and their shade cools sidewalks, streets, and buildings. #BostonGreen #GreenInfrastructure #HeatResilience

We retrofit a median along Blue Hill Avenue, between Castlegate Road and Washington Street, allowing it to host new bioswales! Planted with native shrubs, grasses, and perennials, they filter and infiltrate stormwater from the abutting streets to prevent flooding and pollution.
They say April showers bring May flowers, and in no set of locations is this more evident than Boston’s numerous rain gardens. These gardens host a variety of flowers that beautify streets while promoting biodiversity throughout Boston!
With Boston expecting a big nor'easter in the next few days, it's as important as ever to help the city keep track of areas prone to flooding. If you see flooding, give us a shout at BOSTON.GOV/FLOOD-SURVEY
Site Spotlight #10: Jackson Mann Community Center! The Jackson Mann Community Center hosts a luscious rain garden that borders its parking lot. This installation not only punctuates the sidewalk with luscious greenery, but helps to reduce heat and fight flooding in the area.
