Cancer is a very tedious invasion of one's body. Here I am, 16:25, exhausted and riddled with inexplicable pain, like I'd just got home from a big day at the sawmill. My legs won't work today. I'm nauseous and totally invaded by chemodemo. Trying my best to keep my brain working.

Sad news. Another old friend goes. We were on LBC radio in London together, back in the day. Genial, enormous fun to be with, a miner’s son, he hated snobbery and pretence. And had a large corner of his heart for Australia. There was no one quite like him. bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment…

US$250k to be bolted into a small sub with no seats & limited oxygen… to go in some of world’s most inhospitable seas to the ocean floor… to the watery grave of 1500 people… sounds like hell in the first place. Now they’re lost, with scant chance of rescue. Utterly horrible.

Can't wait for the episode on how a well-led liberal democracy can prevent tragic and horrific programs like Robodebt from occurring. That's gonna be a cracker!
It’s out! Join me on my new podcast series. Can liberal democracies prevail against authoritarian populists at home and dictators abroad? @LiSTNRau #auspol link.chtbl.com/DefendingDemo…

Enough. Enough of the abusive comments about Lisa Millar, and other female presenters. And enough of amplifying the bullying by republishing offensive comments. Do better. about.abc.net.au/statements/… – at Melbourne, Victoria

On Monday @4corners, Purity: An Education in Opus Dei. We investigate the Australian schools and study centres linked to this small but powerful organisation, speaking to alumni who say they they have been left psychologically scarred. It’s a fascinating and disturbing story.

Ardern banned semi automatic weapons and assault rifles after a massacre, as did John Howard. She blocked citizens from returning home during COVID as did Scott Morrison for a time. Neither of them have been called “woke”. Why is that?
