🧵TV Themes on an old guitar🧵 #1 Airwolf
I arranged the theme from Airwolf for Fingerstyle guitar. Sounds like a medieval dance...

The idiot’s guide to states – and their ‘rights’: 1. States exist. Some 200 of them. 2. States are the political arrangement in which a people express their self-determination. That arrangement can and does change. 3. States enjoy rights, but only against each other. They have the right, for example, not to face unprovoked aggression from another state. 4. No state has some enduring, abstract “right” to exist. Otherwise bad ones like apartheid South Africa would be unreformable. 5. Peoples, by contrast, do have a right to exist. That’s why states that commit apartheid, ethnic cleansing and genocide are so gravely violating international law. Because they are violating a people’s right to exist. 6. When people argue Israel has a “right” to exist, they are trying to dupe you into believing international law is fine with apartheid, ethnic cleansing and genocide. It isn’t. For obvious reasons, international law prefers the rights of peoples over those of states. Otherwise, no state could ever be illegitimate. Its rights would trump those of the people it rules over. 7. When someone refuses to agree that Israel has a “right” to exist, they are not being antisemitic, whatever the media keeps telling you. They are upholding international law: the precedence of peoples’ rights over those of states. 8. The claim that Israel has a “right” to exist is not what it seems. It’s really the claim that the current reality of extreme inequality between Israelis and Palestinians be set in stone. It’s the diabolical claim that Israel has a right to commit apartheid, ethnic cleansing and genocide against the Palestinian people.

Speaking of dehumanization and double standards, is there a reason NYT editorially calls Israeli captives, including IDF soldiers, “hostages,” and Palestinians locked in cages without trial (or kangaroo trails) “detainees”? Rather than using the more neutral “captives” for both?

The Pope with an absolute banger tweet
Intelligence must draw on memory. The mind must not simply compile data — as an algorithm now does more quickly than we can — but recall lived experiences, which contain depths of meaning that only the human soul can recognize, and connect more deeply with the goodness of these experiences. Everything that is good begins “with the Spirit” and thus possesses a breath, a dynamism and a sense of communion that, once experienced, are engraved upon the heart. vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e…

It's oddly fascinating how white middle class British people support the religiously inspired territorial claims of a 150 year old political ideology even as it torches the sacred relics of their own founding religion
Israel destroyed the mausoleum of Simon Peter, apostle of Christ, in the village of Shama in southern Lebanon 1,925–1,995 years years old . Christians of the world Wake up !!!

Making a highlight reel of a haranguing question that Robinson has no interest in the answer to, and then turning off the comments because they'll be filled with people rightfully asking whether the right to exist applies to Palestinians, is unfathomably cowardly of the BBC.
"Do you think that the state of Israel, as a safe home for Jews after the Holocaust and after the pogroms, has a right to exist?" @bbcnickrobinson repeatedly asks Green Party leader Zack Polanski.

Serbs were targeted in the Holocaust Nick. Does that mean Republika Srpska has a right to exist? So were Roma and Sinti - do they have the right to ethnically cleanse Rajasthan to build their own ethnostate?

Because it's a question asked in bad faith about a state that refuses to declare its borders, defines itself in ethnic terms like apartheid South Africa, and is ethnic cleansing and slaughtering the native Palestinian population. Oh, and then there's the small matter of international law making clear that only peoples, not states, have a "right to exist".

Opposing the mass slaughter of children is not hateful extremism. Yet that is what this moral disgrace of an article argues. Let's go through what it argues - and the reality of the crimes committed by the Israeli army against Palestinian kids.

Fair enough. Strange to damn an entire political party is antisemitic for taking a stance against a political ideology not a faith, while endorsing a man who said “much of Muslim culture is in the grip of a death cult that sacralised bloodshed”. Hope you’re well otherwise.

Arguing over terminology must not become a delaying tactic to avoid our legal and moral obligation to act — to stop the ongoing genocide, having failed to prevent it in the first place. The human reality cannot be argued away.
‘Once you accept it’s a genocide, states have to act immediately.’   Andy Burnham won’t call what’s happening in Gaza a genocide, @NickFerrariLBC asks @HZomlot why not.

How we supposed to act to prevent genocide if we can’t call it genocide till it’s done?
“The issue is still under consideration…I’m not saying it is or isn’t at this point in time, that hasn’t yet been determined.” Andy Burnham’s response when asked on LBC whether there is a genocide taking place in Gaza.

I strongly oppose the removal of the pensions triple-lock. More than 2 million pensioners live in poverty. They will be the ones who suffer the most by taking away pension security. We must protect the principle of universalism. That is why we opposed cuts to winter fuel - and that is why we must oppose any means-testing of the state pension. This isn't about old versus young. This is about the super-rich versus the rest. That's why we should be taxing wealth to fund social care for all.

A double lie here from Ed Miliband: 1. He doesn't need to wait for the Supreme Court to rule on Palestine Action's proscription. The Burnham government could overturn the decision tomorrow if it so chose. 2. Miliband says no one's intent was to criminalise "grannies and vicars" for holding up signs. He's right. That's because the Starmer government imagined it could misuse terrorism laws to intimidate the respectable, white middle classes into silence on genocide. The plan was to leave "brown" people isolated and exposed to the full force of the law if they raised their voices in protest. The Labour government hoped to associate in the public's mind opposition to genocide with supposed Islamic extremism. It massively underestimated public revulsion at the genocide and the UK's complicity. Don't expect anyone in the establishment media, including Andrew Marr, to highlight either of these very obvious and salient points.

While the Prime Minister is applauded in carefully managed conference conditions for capping bus fares, and the commentariat paint him as a radical, one reality remains unchanged: he continues to engage in genocide denial. Just like those before him. History will not forget.
