🟠 Michael Douglas went to dinner with a group Rolling Stone called a cult. At dessert they told him he'd have to be eliminated.
He's 82 and has two Oscars, and he just told this story to Joe Rogan.
In the video below, he says a group invited him over for dinner. Then they told him "So you're going to have to be eliminated."
He says "They were going to whack me."
He says if he'd made "any sudden movement," they might have killed him.
His girlfriend was with him. He said "I'm going to leave now." They said "Yeah, you better." Then he said "We're getting up now and we're leaving."
He says "I had to carry her out."
He says it was Mel Lyman's commune, which started in Boston, and that the police were alerted.
Rogan pulls up Rolling Stone's page on air. It reads "Inside the cult led by Mel Lyman, the East Coast Charles Manson."
Rogan asks "Did they kill anybody?" Douglas says "I don't know."
Rolling Stone reported in 2019 that the group never ended in murders. Its 1971 story on them was called "The Lyman Family's Holy Siege of America."
He never gives a date or a place, and no police record has surfaced. This is his account.
His memoir, One Helluva Ride, came out Oct 6.
